The fruit stands out and lingers. This is definitely a good sipper, and loom forward to enjoying this bottle. I often like to use my bottles to mix cocktails with, but the subtle flavors of stone fruits and wood will probably get overpowered. Overall, a very balanced rum that smooth the whole way through.

It’s aged for 3 years in new oak barrels and finished for a short time in former Bourbon casks. It’s, as all J.M’s, in their standard line up, a good entrance to the world of Agricole’s. The nose is floral and woody with aromas of grass, oak and bourbon. At the palate the aromas comes back as flavors plus that there are flavors of sugarcane and smoke.

#5031 05.01.2025 Enjoying a few samples at home. Nose Round, wood, light roasted, cinnamon, spice, light sour, light grass, fruits. Palate Round, wood, light roasted, naturally sweet, light cinnamon, light tannins, faint grass, light spicy, faint banana. Finish Medium to long, wood, fruits, naturally sweet, faint smoke, light pineapple. The empty glass has a light burn note with light mint and citrus.

An old JM from the permanent range, production of this one seems to have stopped for now. It's a shame, because for a VO this JM has a perfumed nose with beautiful woodiness, slightly warm spices (pepper, vanilla) and honeyed notes, all with a touch of freshness on the fruits, especially apple and peach. A rather accomplished nose for such a young rum. The attack on the palate continues with more roasted and toasted notes, also more earthy and vegetal. You can detect sugar cane, leather, apple and still this woody and spicy duo that perfumes the palate. The agricole side is not too dominant, which is rather pleasant. The alcohol is well controlled, even if the degree is already low. The finish does quite well with cinnamon, spicy and toasted notes, a bit more greenery but an apple still present, marked with candied notes on honey. The profile gains balance as it goes. A somewhat linear profile but which has the merit of being a very good base rum. Again, it's a pity that this type of rum is not continuously available.

Touched at 35 euros. It's an excellent choice at that price. An agricole in the pure gustatory tradition, clear and easy. Really not much to fault for the price. Very good neat but also makes excellent ty vieux. As often with woody juices, forgetting the bottle at the back of the bar does it good.

Herrlich fruchtige Noten von Apfel und Weißwein, ebenso Holz. Im Hintergrund Klebstoff und Honig zu erkennen. Die Frucht dominiert auch im Geschmack, der Apfel ist deutlich wahrnehmbar und wird nach kurzer Zeit vom imposanten Honigauftritt abgelöst. Leichte Holzbeiklänge. Zum langanhaltenden Honig gesellt sich mit der Zeit Leder. Fruchtiger und milder Agricole.
