Tar, rubber and old leather lead the way — the classic dirty Caroni signature, here from the well-liked 1999 vintage. Underneath sit dark cherry, a little caramel and dried fruit, with wood and spice pushing hard on a long, warm finish. At 63.7% the heat is there but well integrated; give it an hour of air. A few tasters wish it had a touch more complexity.

16.05.2026 Retasting and still an OK Caroni. ----------- 20.02.2024 Enjoying some samples at home while relaxing. Colour Dark to very dark. Nose Medium intense, wood, light roasted, light cherry, light rubber, faint leather, light tar, spice. Palate Warm, round, wood, light roasted, light rubber, faint tar, light cherry, faint caramel, light anise, light dried fruit. Finish Long and warm, wood, faint smoke, light caramel, faint licorice, light rubber, faint tar.

My first 1999 Caroni. Consistently Caroni-typical dirty profile. Rubber, tar and some dark red fruits reminiscent of bicycle inner tubes. The high alcohol content is very well integrated. A bit more complexity would have suited it very well.

Good Caroni, classic profile. Dirty notes with wood, spice and heavy sweetness. Far from the Velier Olympus, but still compelling and further evidence that the 1999 vintage deserves attention.

#1811 19-07-2026 - Rate 9.2 We had a small summer Caroni tasting. This was the first on in the mix. A nice Caroni. Power in nose and taste. High ABV well integrated. Classic Caroni profile with lots of rubber, tar and leather

Very beautiful Caroni, from this vintage, 1999 Indeed a very interesting year. We find powerful empyreumatic notes, tar, rubber, vanilla and caramel and citrus. A woody note, nice length and very pleasant alcohol especially after an hour of airing. I love it ❤️

Very nice balance. A lot is happening on the palate. An attack rather on fruit and sugar quickly followed by the empyreumatic notes of Caroni. The finish is warm.
