Sipped neat, this is a softer, rounder Caroni than the tar-and-rubber bruisers many chase. The dirty workshop notes are there — leather, warm rubber, a little tar — but tamed, with strawberry, dried fruit and a real thread of sweetness underneath. At 60.2% the alcohol sits remarkably well hidden until a long, warming finish. Members call it easy-drinking and very well balanced for the mark.

A very pleasant Caroni. In addition to the dirty Caroni aromas of rubber, tar, tea, leather and barrel/wood, there are also fruity notes (both "fresh" fruit and prunes) and a pleasant sweetness. Together they form an excellent balance, so that 5 minutes later you no longer have the penetrating taste of freshly tarmacked road on your tongue. Alcohol is perfectly integrated!

The alcohol not noticeable on the nose shows its strength only at the end and gives the rum an extremely long finish. For me, it could have been sweeter. Also before that, the typical dirty tar notes and melted, still warm rubber dominate. Honestly, I miss fruity parts that would have given the rum roundness and complexity. This Caroni does what you expect from it. Nothing more.

On the nose, I get dried fruits, tar, rubber, and slightly charred wood... you hardly feel the alcohol. On the palate, light sweetness... dried fruits, hints of tropical fruits, less dirty, chocolate, and slightly bitter. Alcohol noticeable but not bad. Finish rather mediocre.

8,8:On the nose, industrial with rubber and tar, slightly dirty, medicinal, toasted/charred wood notes like caramel, chocolate, sweet, meaty, smoky, tropical, citrus fruits, slightly fermented, buttery, dark molasses with black tea, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, berries, dried fruits arise, molasses is vegetal with chesnuts hints, dark with licorice, more medicinal notes like solvents, perhaps petrol, coppery, join, roasted nuts and spicy touch. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is industrial with burnt rubber and tar, some bicycle tube, dirty, medicinal with varnish and glue, later petrol/menthol, the wood is toasted with cocoa, nuts, caramel, later bubble gum, spicy, slightly salty, dry, fruity with tropical(fermented), citrus and dried fruits like raisins and apricots, on oxidation berries like strawberry, cherry, dairy hints join, some prunes and molasses is dark with licorice, black tea, floral, herbaceous. 8,8:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with toasted oak notes like dark chocolate, bubble gum, peppery, industrial with burnt rubber, tar, dirty, bicycle tube, medicinal, fruity with dried, tropical fruits, berries like cherry, strawberry, as molasses is dark with black tea..

Tasting a Caroni on a Sunday afternoon in the autumn sun: Rather a lighter and milder representative. On the nose the typical dirty aromas, on the palate then very round with a slight sweetness and fruity accents. Very balanced.

Basically a very nice dirty Caroni with that lovely workshop and bike tube smell and taste. But unfortunately, it doesn't quite make it into the top 97 group. Conclusion: Very good despite everything

A bit softer on the nose than I'm normally used to with a Caroni. It does have wonderfully sweet notes, though, with the Caroni leather "dirtiness." On the palate, it's wonderfully sweet, with strawberries coming to the forefront again. Dried fruit, tea, dark chocolate. And then the typical Caroni notes like leather, and so on. But softer than what I'm normally used to. Very well balanced. A wonderfully easy-drinking Caroni that's well-balanced, with the alcohol very well integrated. The finish is, of course, wonderfully long. So, another winner!. On to the next Caroni! ;-)

Smoky on the nose, with thyme, yellow fruits, and a slightly soapy note. There's also some bitterness running through the profile. Otherwise, an okay 97 Caroni. On the palate, warm rubber, menthol, and a tart red fruit jam show up. Overall rather dry. In the finish, chocolate and a bit of coffee appear. The wood influence feels a bit musty and somewhat out of place to me in spots. Overall, though, a very decent Caroni with many classic markers.

One of the better Caroni 97s. At first the typical dirty Caroni notes but in a tamed form, which then gradually transform into a relatively round bourbon note. I like it very much.

Solid 97er profile. Not super dirty, rather in the balanced range. The almost 70% are excellently integrated. An excellent sipper, fits the Ritz Carlton.
