Super amazing nose thanks to the 12-year port wine aging. Alongside the fruity side, there are also chocolatey and roasted/smoky aromas. If you let it breathe longer, potstill notes and leather, smoke, and wood come to the forefront. Its color is very dark. On the palate, typical Chairman, rather dry and spicy, but the port wine influence makes it a bit gentler compared to other Chairmans aged only in bourbon barrels. Dried fruits, grape, berries, wood, and roasted chocolate linger long.

Retasting and I still like it a lot. --------- #5066 Friday 24.01.2025 - 26.01.2025 A nice weekend in my sisters summerhouse with old friends and colleagues tasting a lot of rums. I can only recommend like we did, no phones allowed and then only music in the background 😊 Colour Dark. Nose Medium intense, wood, light roasted, raisin, light chocolate, light banana, faint glue. Palate Intense, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, light glue, complex, light chocolate, naturally sweet, faint caramel. Finish Long, wood, raisin, light caramel, light chocolate, fresh dates. Empty glass Wood, roasted, light tannins, dried fruit, light chocolate.

Very very awesome harmony of full proof dirty st Lucia rum and port! dried fig plays the main aroma here along with old leather couch combined with old banana peels, citrus jam and 100% cocoa and vanilla pulp along with cognac and grape notes, as well as red fruit soaked in port and lots of tannins.... Very very unique and delicious! Grandiose bottling from Poland! 💯🥂

I’m not so familiar with rums from St. Lucia, but this one was really impressive, delicious. Best of the night in warsaw. Very welcoming in the nose with various fruits, glue, cognac and leather for sure the impact of the port wine barrel. In mouth it’s very intense and need some time to fully open and show up various notes. The alcohol is integrated well. The finish is delicious, various fruits, barrel, tannins, polish paired with a bit of anise. Love it

The nose welcomes you with juicy fruit bread full of dried fig and tropical fruit previously soaked in red wine. In the mouth, the fruit bread turns into palatable mulled wine - the spices remain, the fruit becomes more acidic and fresh. The finish remains vinous, tannic, astringent, cooked red fruit (sour cherry).A quaffable, round Chairman's. The port gives sweetness and takes complexity without making the distillate unrecognizable. For relaxed drinking on the side, I liked the rum much better than in the concentrated tasting - good that I got a 10 cl sample. 🤤

as a long-time port wine fan (esp. Quinta do Noval) I was of course very excited, and I must say that I was somewhat surprised: 'Classic' port wine notes I could not necessarily detect, perhaps most likely raisin. What came to mind on the nose, however, is sweet pipe tobacco. The palate comes with lots of power and leather, tobacco, cocoa, toasty flavors. Perhaps not as I had thought, but a very successful bottling, and somewhere just behind the Nectar15 and GotA.

Find the St. Lucia rum and port finish harmonize very well here. The typical St Lucia expression remains recognizable, by the finish everything is vinous, quaffable (raisin, dried fruit) and thereby quickly invites to the next glass (if you still have one🙄).

As expected, with pronounced fruity sweetness from the ex-port cask, which is more noticeable on the nose than on the palate. In the mouth very spicy-bitter, here the cask influence and the accompanying heavy fruity sweet notes work very well as a counterbalance. Unfortunately, the complexity is somewhat lost, especially the fresh tropical fruits and the elegant bitter tea aroma of other releases are missing for a higher rating.

In the nose I also have the much-praised aromas of port wine and dried fig. Interestingly, the blend very much reminds me of Calippo Cola, but not intrusive, just a bit in the background. Tastewise then smooth despite the strength. There the leather aromas condense, creating a big whole. For more than 80 points though a tad too delicate.

An old rum from Saint Lucia whose port influence is felt on the nose with touches of grape, red fruits, dried fruits (fig), and dark chocolate. The profile is woody, slightly roasted, and drifts towards tobacco and some herbal notes as it opens to the nose. There is also a more classic sweetness on caramel and soft spices (chili, pepper, vanilla). The port markers are there but let the aromas express themselves to offer an interesting profile. The palate is imbued with the port cask markers: grape, dried fruits, alcohol, chocolate, bitter cocoa, soft spices (chili, vanilla), roasted wood, and burnt sugar put on a show on the palate. Despite everything, the port is well integrated into the whole, at least more than in the Perola selection. The profile is dry, tannic, a bit astringent but rather elegant. The alcohol is well integrated despite the high degree. The finish is of medium length, dry and tannic like at the end of the mouth, carried by the cask, tobacco, leather, cherry, dried fruits (raisin, fig), spices, and the bitterness of dark chocolate. The finish is not too marked, and that's almost better so that the rather heavy aromas of the port fade away gradually. A good rum that shows good integration of the port overall, but which is clearly not the most complex of the house.

Very interesting. Here I notice only marginally the profile known to me so far from the tasted Saint Lucia Master's Selection. In the nose still very fruity, but towards grape. On the palate, first a great mix of distinct wood notes, the familiar menthol and tobacco direction and dark chocolate and then comes dry port / sherry / Armagnac. The whole blends well together. The finish is very dry and long lasting.

In the nose I smell plums or cherries, marmalade; on the palate plums, plum jam, but also a technical note, and towards the end tones of wood and dryness of the barrel. At first tasting, a fairly sharp taste, somewhat like cough drops, but after further tastings the complexity of the rum's flavor reveals itself... every time I taste something a bit different... and I enjoy the rum... the finish is medium to long... wood echoes. The rum has a beautiful dark color and I can imagine a glass for a long winter evening and relaxation.

Chairman's Reserve by Saint Lucia Distillers is a distinctive rum with a rich aroma and taste that combines the best of Caribbean tradition. The aroma offers notes of port wine and red fruits, complemented by leathery and woody nuances, a light hint of citrus and tobacco. On the palate, notes of tobacco, spice and dried fruit are expressed, with an overall drier impression and a slightly bitter finish that warms the palate. It is a balanced rum with character that will please more experienced rum lovers.
