The port finish is the twist you'd expect to lead here, but most tasters found it sitting quietly in the background. What you get is a "really nice traditional savanna": candied cherry, red berries and raisins up front, then leather, light wood, cinnamon and a hint of black tea. One reviewer clocked it as tasting almost like an aging agricole. Softer and sweeter than Savanna's wilder ester bombs.

18.01.2020 A nice little summer house meet up in ght cold part of the year. Good we had rums to keep us warm. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Intense, ester, light wood, faint smoke, cherry, light floral, faint chocolate. Palate Intense, warm, light wood, spice, cherry, berries, ester, light vegetal, faint leather. Finish Medium long and warm, light wood, light roasted, vegetal, cherry, faint caramel.

Port cask has left its sweet traces. Red fruits, raisins, the whole thing harmonizes more or less with the Grande aroma profile. A few more percent would have done the rum good. All in all, an easy sipper for those who prefer rather sweeter - unsweetened - rums.

Rums from the Savanna distillery are among my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-heavy pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in just a few drops of liquid for a long time.

Easy sipping Savanna. Port influence is not too dominant. Leather saddle, candied cherry, cinnamon, allspice, and mint black tea. Very relaxed.

A really nice traditional savanna

A bit disappointing. The nose shows fruit and wood, the taste starts sweet then moves to toasted and leathery tones, the influence of port is not very pronounced. The finish is relatively short and overall there are more interesting pieces to be found.

Pavel Špaček tasting calendar 4 2024 Very decent traditional Savanna, no wildness - continental fruit, spices, wood, light vegetation, port finish is not particularly pronounced here, but I would say the profile was brought to the sweeter side.
