One taster kept getting a "hidden agricole vibe" from this Bielle — minty, eucalyptus, a little peppery — and that captures it. The nose leans on dried apricot, caramel and herbs, then the palate turns spicy and woody with roasted, almost medicinal notes. Several people note the 58% alcohol isn't fully tucked in, but let it rest and it opens up.

Back to the best time of the year 🤤🥃 #1st advent RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: Minty, fruity, rubber, woody, roasted. Palate: Minty, rubber, caramel, black tea, roasted, woody, barrel notes, floral. Finish: long, minty, woody, barrel notes, a bit a astringency, chocolate, at the end it‘s get more floral, herbal, notes of the sugarcane = agricole like. On the palate the alcohol starts very spicy, but then it‘s gets better. I enjoyed this a lot. Just a great start👍🏻🥃 Chapeau RumX Team My Prediction: Guyana PM Approx. 50% Approx. 20 years of aging

Typical Bielle, in a stronger version. The alcohol could be better integrated though. The bottling is complex and intense. Herbal notes with lots of caramel and spice can be found in this rum.

The first from the RumX calendar. On the nose spicy (nutmeg, allspice), dried apricot, herbs, cask and caramel sweetness. On the palate quite strong, roasted notes and somehow a bit medicinal (hospital corridor). Good and interesting Bielle, but still room for improvement compared to the excellent Les Rhum Vieux bottlings.

A very complete Bielle that offers a beautiful journey to Guadeloupe. The nose is very rich in tropical and dried fruits, with some citrus notes, then come spicy aromas, floral and woody notes, then gourmandise brought by almonds and milk chocolate. The attack on the palate is drier and gripping, with quite a lot of spices that intensify on the palate, floral and menthol notes that refresh the whole, dried fruits, nuts and medicinal notes that offer a complete and controlled ensemble. The finish, a bit short, shows spicy, toasted and mentholated notes on a background of leather and cocoa. A nicely successful, varied and evolving profile.

27.11.22 RumX Advent At first Foursquare on the nose, later some dirty notes come in. Also in the mouth. Led me on the trail of Sancti Spiritus. Very full-bodied and complex in taste. Still wonderfully smooth and balanced.

Tasted blind... not clear to me... I kept getting a slight glue note on the nose that irritated me! Overall a pleasant Bielle and a nice start to the RumX calendar 2022!

Weihnachtskalender 2022 Im blind Tasting mit T.D.L total daneben gelegen Nase: zunächst Fruchtig und der Eindruck von Grappa, mit mehr Zeit zunehmend floraler. Gaumen: mächtig! Sehr würzig und viel Fass. Daneben Süße, Kräuter und eine leichte medizinische Note (blind fälschlich als Whisky Finish interpretiert). Nachklang: die Würze und das Holz bleiben sehr lange, daneben florale Noten. Schöner kräftiger Agricole!

14.05.2022 Had a nice meet up with some nice rums, good friends and also new rum enthusiasts. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Medium intense, light wood, light caramel, raisin, light herbs, faint rubber, light citrus. Palate Oily, round, balanced, sugarcane, light floral, light caramel, medium spicy, light licorice, light roasted wood. Finish Medium long, fresh, oily, light herbs, vegetal, light licorice. Extra note. Needs to rest in order to release all its flavours.

RumX Advent calendar 1st Advent Smell: After pouring, fruit dominates first with spicy wood notes. I would have guessed Barbados/Foursquare here. After some time in the glass, more floral notes appear: herbal tea. Taste: Different than expected, clearly less fruit. Very spicy/woody with vegetal notes between artichoke and mint, herbal. Finish: burnt, but develops over time into delicious herbs.

Un rhum du même embouteilleur Suisse que le Courcelles 1972. Un nez étonnant d’herbes amères (amaro) de pâtisseries, de fruits exotiques et de poivre noir. Le poivre et le piment attaquent en premier en bouche, malheureusement les autres arômes sont un peu plus simples qu’au nez. La finale est toujours sur le piquant et à la fin les fruits et les herbes amères sont de retour. Le verre vide exhale des arômes de vieux bois et de douceur très agréables. Un beau nez surprenant mais la bouche est clairement en retrait.

RumX advent 2022 prelude, blind: The longer it sits and with every little sip, I get a “hidden agricole vibe”. Minty/eucalyptus and a bit of peppery sharpness with subtle lingering agricole flavors in the aftertaste for me. The only distillery I ever had this experience with (not agricole but yet agricole) is Bielle. But I would be very surprised if this would be correct. Well what do you know, I guess I’m surprised 😁

zunächst strömt Klebstoff entgegen verfliegt aber schnell und weicht Kokos und Frucht, Aprikose nehme ich wahr. Angenehm zurückhaltend aber schon sehr einladend. Am Gaumen dann direkt etwas verkohlt rauchiges wahrnehmbar das sich dann etwas setzt und Raum für ordentlich würze lässt, die auch im Finish gut präsent bleibt. Sehr schöner Start ins Adventskalender -Vergnügen. Mit Luft nach oben 😉

RumX Advent Calendar 27.11.22: Mistakenly thought it was a low-ester Jamaica rum blind. It has a note that strongly reminded me of the EMB mark, then lots of wood on the finish. Very round and mild, but could have a bit more volume and power.
