Exquisite, yellow fruits meet noble spicy notes and honey sweetness. Despite its great age, the wood is in no way intrusive or otherwise unpleasantly perceptible, on the contrary - the balance is almost perfect. A great bottling.

Expressive and profound bottling, for me the strongest from the Rum House range. Complex aromas with ripe fruit, fine spice and elegant wood notes. Intense and multi-layered despite the moderate drinking strength. The differences to the other releases are minor, but everything seems a little more harmonious here. Exceptional quality, especially in relation to the price.

A rum still in stock in Switzerland. Remarkably sweet on the nose, despite the 54%, with amarena cherry, roasted notes, vegetal and floral notes, and marzipan. Very smooth on the palate, as if this rum (which is not an agricole) was made at 40%! Balanced and elegant, with deep fruit and floral aromas. Morello cherry galore and a taste of dark chocolate. A remarkably well-balanced, delicious rum! The empty glass is still very rich in flavors around red fruits with lots of cherry 🍒 Compared to the 2022 version, it's more direct and less mysterious. There's no tar on the nose to complicate the aromatics, and the palate has a citrus edge that the 2022 version doesn't have.

Let’s keep this brief: delightful stuff! Intense and complex on the nose as well as on the palate. Intense with a very long finish. Right after the Velier release clearly number two in the range. Cheers Jakib for the set.

Blind Community Tasting Courcelles 1972 by Jakob. Thanks for organizing Jakob👌 Fruity with lots of red fruits. Especially cherries / sour cherries here. Perfume, vanilla, honey on the palate. A great profile. My guess: Is this the 2014?

#17th dec RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: cherry, mirabelle plum, red fruits, mango, woody, spicy Mouth: cherry, caramelized, honey, roasted, woody Finish: long, oak, woody, delicious, cherry, mirabelle plum, creamy, bitter, smoky, salty It’s a really nice agricole with a lovely fruity hint of cherries and mirabelle plum, which rest for a long time in mouth and the empty glass too. The alcohol is integrated very well My prediction: I’ll go again with Martinique ca. 50% approx. 20 Years

Hammer, the rum! There's a lot on the nose at once, and it changes the longer the rum is in the glass. You can smell it for hours! It's really difficult to capture everything: Vanilla, apricot, baking spice, mango, allspice, floral, honey. It also reminds me of Rockleys, especially the Plantation Extreme 1986. Roasty on the palate, vanilla, dark chocolate, cask. A real pearl!

An old-school aged rum that has retained a lot of flavors and pep for its age. The nose is very fruity, with lovely spices, notes of tobacco, wood, a slight roasted veil, and very pleasant crème brûlée flavors. On the palate, the attack is dry but delicious, infused with spices, mocha, chocolate, tobacco, roasted notes, dried fruits, and banana. The alcohol is very well integrated, even if a slight alcoholic kick remains in the aftertaste. The finish is duller and less pronounced but still influenced by spices, tobacco, and some notes of herbs, smoke, wood, and dried fruits. A very beautiful rum that honors its lost terroir.

I have the 47 year old Courcelles and this one is pretty close to it. Very fruity with a hint of barrel and vanilla. There is a touch of smoke from the roasting and the day after the nose is very nice and chocolaty :-)

Nase: reife Aprikose und Pfirsich, wunderbar! Riecht fast wie ein entsprechender Likör, unglaublich! Später kommt süßes Gebäck hinzu und Parfüm. Gaumen: deutlich mehr Würze als die Nase vermuten läßt, daneben Mirabellenbrand. Im Nachklang noch immer Mirabellen, trockener werdend mit einem Wechselspiel der Aromen von Nase und Gaumen! Das ist ein unglaublicher Rum, wem sich die Gelegenheit zum kosten bietet - unbedingt ergreifen!

RumX Community Tasting - Domaine de Courcelles (thanks to Jakob) Four bottlings in the blind tasting, 2008, 2014 and 2022 from Rhum House and 2005 from Velier. We were quite unanimous about the winner of the evening, and how else could it be, it was the not exactly cheap Velier bottling (fruity, flowery, sweet). For me, this was followed by Rhum House 2014 (similar profile, more cherry than peach), closely followed by 2008 (very similar to 2014) and finally 2022 (less fruity in comparison, more spicy, slightly more alcoholic). But they are all very close together, sometimes more and sometimes less notes of cherry and peach (iced tea), honey or honeycomb and lots of vanilla. Very good stuff.

RumX Advent calendar 17.12.: Very exciting nose, sweet and spicy, some dried fruit and nougat. Has something of a spiced rum in cool. A great interplay of aromas in the mouth too, in which the spicy notes stand out a little more, but the wood is pleasantly restrained despite the age.

Wow - First fruity marzipan on the nose, then a cherry-banana (KiBa) from palate to a long finish. Balanced spices, some barrel and roasted notes as well as caramel round it all off. Alcohol perfectly integrated!

Again such a hidden treasure. Comes with plenty of vanilla and cherry on the nose where I think where is my plate with the pastries. Then it gets clearly toastier according to the age. Wonderfully complex mix of coffee, chocolate, vanilla underlaid with some honey and also fruit notes come through well. Very good balance. More of this 🤣

A very special & delicious exceptional Agricole. Extremely harmonious and well-balanced. Super creamy mouthfeel, intense notes of mirabelle, honey, smoky almonds, a bit of salt, sandalwood, bananas, cookies, and vanilla. Very tasty! Only the finish could be a bit longer...

Number One. On the nose, I get a hint of Savana Herr. Medicinal note and fruit. On the palate, thankfully no more Herr. Slightly medicinal, dried fruit. Complex. Slightly creamy. The alcohol is well integrated. In direct comparison, the nummet1 stands out the most from the others. Both on the nose and on the palate.

28.2.2025 after a couple of samples I opened one of my bottles. Mindblowing! A creolen girl that holds all the promises of the looks upstairs. Sweet, sweating, spicy, the strawberry bubble gum she is chewing. If rhum is sex, this it is! Vanilla, caramel, strawberry and cherry bubble gum, rotten fruits, sweetness, spices, extremely smooth and balanced. WTF? One point up to 9.5! Previous notes: amazing stuff! One if my favorite rhums. The palate holds up to what the nose is promising. A long warm finish. A complexity you will find with few rums and a wide range of aromas that perfectly balance out with the ABV. Love it!

Finally, I get to taste something from this ghost distillery, and what can I say, on the nose it's fragrant and seductive with great personality. Various notes of fruit, red, yellow, dried and unripe, accompanied by honey, milk chocolate, vanilla, spices, light wood, and even a final note of tobacco. On the palate, it's creamy and structured, with floral notes of frangipane (like others from the same era), delicate honey (and biscuits), dried fruits, and peppery/spiced wood in a long, enveloping, and balanced finish. Excellent ABV, shows less, in the empty glass barrel, red and yellow fruits, aged, cinnamon, candied fruits. The rating ranges between 8.7 and 8.9. The Guadeloupe profile is well recognizable; if tasted blind, it might mistakenly seem like a 70s agricole. Thanks to Stefan for the opportunity
