After a quarter of a bottle it is still a top rum. I'm thrilled. This Duchess is significantly woodier and toastier than its predecessor and much heavier than the RdL bottlings from the Collectors Ed. The cherry and berries only come to the fore behind the glue and burnt spices - more red fruit jelly than fresh fruit. There is also some polish and cardboard. In the mouth, the berries are more present and even riper, like in an old Tempranillo, plus dark chocolate, crumbly tannins, the spices and artichoke and beet? The finish is super relaxed and the alcohol integration, which was previously the weak point of all 10 Canes, is much better in this one! Minimal criticism: Unfortunately, the rum lacks the citrus facet that characterized the other 2008s. Uodate: In crosstasting with the new Trinidad rum club. Could still understand my tasting notes very well. The rum club doesn't want to classify itself so confidently. The Rumclub lacks the sour cherries, the berries, the old Agricole. Instead, it brings the typical TDL peach and mint iced tea. I'm confused and need to do a bigger comparison session.

In direct comparison to the duchess ten cane 2008/2019, there is less fruit on the nose, fewer floral notes and instead more spice and more wood and cardboard as well as caramel. The taste is again somewhat sweeter than its predecessor, almost burnt caramel, cassis jelly, dark chocolate, artichoke leaves, candied ginger, cinnamon bark and fruit bread. More wood, tannins and dark chocolate and peach iced tea on the finish. Partly reminiscent of good XO Cognac. Definitely at least as enjoyable as its predecessor, albeit very different. The alcohol is surprisingly well integrated here and the wood does not dominate at all. Grandiose bottling once again from the house of Duchess! For me so far the benchmark in terms of Ten cane 2008!

This is the best Ten Cane I've ever had! A great compmex aroma profile of berries, sour cherries, hokz, burnt sugar, caramelized fruit, chocolate, polish, glue, lots of tannins, warm on the palate,... The color is already fun. This thing is simply wonderful! The alcohol is super integrated, the finish is very long!

2nd tasting: remains very interesting, precisely because of its corners and edges.Very intense. On the nose a lot of wood, dark fruit and nicely spicy. Something slightly biting like polish. Then again nicely fruity. The longer it stands, the more intense it smells. Makes fun. Great nose. On the palate first alcoholic, then briefly bitter to burnt (the burnt remains in the finish). Then berries, a slight sweetness, like caramel and again lots of wood, pleasantly spicy. With slight deductions in the taste overall an exciting and great rum.

#4138 The price tag on this bottle at release was really good. A complex yet very nice rum with fruits and spices. The roasted wood is strong in this I've without being dominant. Love the dark colour and thick curtains in the glass. The empty glass is really nice and has some chocolate and faint rubber to it.

The next top rum. A really tasty Trinidad. In the nose still mostly red fruits, especially (sour) cherry and some wood. On the palate then much more woody, but also very rusty and tasting of berries.

8,8:On the nose, very enticing fruits attack our nosetrils, like black berry, red fruits with raspberry, cherry or maybe sour cherry and raisins, well, wood is obviously roasted with a caramel, dark chocolate, spicy with a clove and cinnamon, there are medicinal notes like nail polish. On aeration, a molasses is dark with black tea, the wood offers nuts, burnt sugar and tannins, menthol shows itself, some prunes also... 8,7:On the palate, the attack is woody and industrial at first, thick, with rubber, roasted, burnt wood with burnt sugar and caramel, spicy with vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon, as dried currants and berries are delicious, some banana crawls in...Resting the rum brings tannins, fruits like citrus, raisins and medicinal notes with menthol. 8,8:The finish is even better, rounder, woody, dry with tannins, roasted notes, creamy, still spicy and fruitier with berries and red, dried fruits, banana, more industrial as the palate with petrol, rubber, tar.. My first Ten Cane. It was a blind sample and I would have guessed a well matured Agricole in the Saint James-Damoiseau-Bielle triangle.Deep color.On the nose a nice composition of cocoa powder, ripe bananas, oscillating 🤣 fruits (cherry, raspberry, citrus etc) and nice wood maturity. Alcohol perfectly integrated. Ripe, warm and yet fresh.In the mouth then a bit crisperand it continues what was promised in the nose.Very good rum, interesting and a nice surprise. Thanks to Bonn for the sample!

Is a little too woody in flavor for me today. Otherwise very tasty. Might give it a second chance. Post-tasting: Today he is not at all too woody for me, on the contrary. Gives equal to an extra point.

👃 Woody spicy, tannic and dark profile, candied red and black fruits, plum, candied sugar cane, Bordeaux canelé, burnt wood, burnt caramel, cocoa, leather care products. 😋 Woody tannic, burnt, hot caramel, red fruit eau-de-vie, berries, garden currants, it remains dark, spicy and burnt. I find this sensation of Bordeaux cake. ⛳ Long, warm, dry, woody spicy and bitter, tannins, burnt caramel, spicy dark chocolate, red and black fruit. 🏅 I really appreciate this quite dark profile typical of the late Ten Cane which mixes burnt wood, barrel tannins, candied and burnt sugar cane, roasting, spices, red and black fruits.

This Ten Cane is definitely one of the better of its kind!But so right he does not pick me up.... the wood and this burnt note dominate me too much! The fruit is too restrained for me in contrast and comes out only after some time! This is a rum that needs or needs its time in the glass and on the palate!You have to deal with him intensively and get involved!Today tasted for the 2nd time, my first impression was confirmed .

first needs quite a while until everything unfolds, but then come beautiful red fruits and fruit bread. Accompanied by old barrel and cherry wood, dark chocolate and furniture polish. The palate is spicy-woody, also significant alcoholic spiciness. Lots of wood barrel, tannins and clove on the finish. If you think that's it, then comes out the back but again a note in the direction of Haribo cherry cola 😜 In direct comparison, the 11er is a touch lighter, a little less on the woody track.

Also a first for me here. My first Ten Cane and I'm pretty impressed. Very roasty, spicy, and reminds me a bit of the Mhoba bottlings due to this nougat/plastic note. Also relatively little fruit in the mouth and more spices and roasted aromas. I like it overall very much!

Even better than his 11-year-old brother. Heavy cottage industry, grandfather's workshop and fruit on the nose again. The palate is extremely intense, very sweet at first, gradually through the wood into oily notes. Finally, a very long finish that signs off with a perfect trinidad.

The Duchess selected a little gem from Trinidad here. The nose is limited to a certain range but intensely focused on it: you can detect beautiful notes of red fruits, especially cherry, prune, and raisin, which bring roundness. There are also lots of spices of all kinds, like cinnamon, cloves, chili, pepper, and vanilla. The wood is dark, chocolaty, slightly caramelized, and continues into leather. A concentrated profile. The palate is a true concentrate of woody and burnt notes that darken the mouth. The spices (cinnamon and chili leading), burnt sugar, and dark chocolate deepen this intense profile. Moreover, the red and dried fruits (cherry, berries, prune, and raisin) only accentuate this very dark but rather elegant facet. We have a complete aromatic spectrum, dark and expressive. The alcohol is also very well integrated. The finish is a bit tamer but continues with roasted, burnt, and spicy notes. An astringent and tannic side creeps in at the end of the mouth with the red and dried fruits. The spices and leather complete this profile full of excess. A very good Ten Cane, which is often a neglected profile but has the merit of offering something different from Trinidad.

Verdict: compact but very tasty Ten Cane. Wood, spice, chocolate, coffee, black tea. Great stuff. 85 points Nose: molasses, brown sugar, wood, roasted, tobacco, baking spice. Nuts, dried fruit, black tea, leather and chocolate. Palate: roasted, nutty, woody, tobacco, and spice. Coffee, chocolate, date, black tea. Finish: nicely woody, with the right amount of spice. Then dark chocolate, coffee, date, roasted, leather.

Good stuff from Ten Cane! While the quality there did fluctuate, here we have a bottling that I might have even guessed blind as from Guadeloupe or Guyana (KFM or MDS). Dark fruits, plenty of wood and tannins (just about okay for my personal taste) and a good load of spices make this bottling a small surprise.

A rather special agricole. Dark, with lots of tannin, burnt wood, caramelized red/black fruit, a little rubbery. The alcohol is a little too present at first, but after a while the rum becomes very interesting, rich, deep, mellowing and revealing its full potential. The finish is eternal and greedy. A wonderful discovery!

This needed a lot of resting in the glass to reveal more than just burnt sugar and seabreeze. After an hour, it opened up beautifully into a slick and incredibly concentrated profile. On the nose, upfront with burnt sugars, black cherries and barrel char. Then dried fruits and orange zest. Followed by mixed spices; foremost cinnamon and cloves, but also slight juniper and ginger notes. 75%+ chocolate. A complex heart of hot glue and coriander. On the palate excellent maturity. Very woody, charred and intensely spicy. Arid. Black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, juniper, ginger, light licorice, nutmeg… Black cherries, orange peel, dried fruits and their accompanying tannins. Dark chocolate leading into a bitter finish. The finish is reasonably lasting, “wine-y”; tannic and bitter. There’s dried fruits and more cloves driving this home. It’s a very heavy rum. I would expect this to be polarising, not appealing to all palates.

Dark, sour fruit compote on the nose paired with a spicy wood influence. There is also a lovely medicinal eucalyptus note, with the spicy barrel influence dominating the palate. The tannins from the barrel work excellently on the complex taste. Mild, oily, spicy, burnt sugar, cognac grape runs through the profile from start to finish. ABV is very well integrated. The finish is medium, what you have on the palate is carried along nicely. Dry, woody, spicy, raspberry ...delicious Ten Cane....

Just horny. In the nose very concentrated and the fruit was already very captured by the barrel. On the palate then just horny. Very heavy and super complex, the alcohol is very well integrated. Makes really fun if you like it dark. The finish is already fun because very astringent. But hardly becomes peppery. Hence the high rating. I like it very much. Best Ten Cane I've had ... so far.

Come on, this is amazing. Deep, rich, roasted, melassa, black tea and sherry. Wow, that sherry touch is wonderfull. Very well integrated alcohol. This is really cool. Where can I buy that liquid? Ten Cane at its best. You must be kidding that only me gave this rum above 9points. Ridiculous.

Heavy, bold Rum. Very ‘meaty’. Much red berry’s, black currant, prunes. It’s very interesting. “Smoked, baked berry’s”. Lots of raisins coming out. Very concentrated juice. Palate are very good. There is something common with cognacs, but more concentrated. Again dried prunes.

On the nose it is little dark, light chocolate, roasted, wood, then red fruits, cherry, light chemicals, sweet spices, light leather... I expected something bit heavy but this is kind of citrusy fresh... this is exciting. The taste is also very fruity at first, but transitions into roasted woody notes with spices and I think I get a light minty finish. Another great piece from 2008.
