I mean this is just sublime. Absolutely top class. Wow. Maybe my favourite rum on first try. The nose is complex, deep and rich. It is oak, caramel, coconut, vanilla & dried fruit. The palate carries the same as the nose with added chocolate and more of the dried fruit - raisins. Also licorice, orange peel and brown sugar. The finish is spicy, a tiny amount of bitterness, dark chocolate and oak. On a side note the cork split on opening so it required a bit of decanting through cheese cloth.

Does not fall in the blind direct comparison with the Velier Albions. Classic Albion notes of sweet vanilla, oak and caramel, but with a somewhat too noticeable bitter note on the palate, without which it would go even higher. Serious alternative in the (still) tolerable price range.

Mega awesome nose of roasted coconut chips, caramel, lots of wood, cocoa, cinnamon, dark chocolate, sour cherries and blackberries with maple syrup, raisins, and dates! 🤤 On the palate, it’s noticeably spicier, smokier, and woodier. Some cocoa, orange peel, sour cherry, and toasted oak, cocoa and dark chocolate, a bit of date, and a light salted caramel note... The finish is astringent like black tea, lots of tannins and bitter roasted aromas, plus banana, banana again, salted caramel, and dark chocolate... Really awesome stuff!! 🇬🇾💣🤤 Always a winner!

Insane quality! At this still(!) good price (2024) a no-brainer. I particularly like the coconut note, paired with fruity berries. However, wood and spicy notes predominate, but that doesn't bother me at all. Heavy Demerara sweetness and alcohol perfectly integrated.

I love it! Chocolate caramel with wood and lots more like tropical fruit. In direct comparison to the ED Skeldon, perhaps less banana in the smell and the Skeldon is roastier in the finish. But the Albion is still wonderful and complex :-) Guyana rum is something great and this rum is a harmonious poem.

Dense and intense nose. Also wonderful on the palate. Not 100 different flavors, but those that are there are wonderfully present and a lot of fun to drink. Alcohol perfectly integrated. Super Demerara rum.

Excellent rum with a high level of complexity; dark chocolate and spices go hand in hand. New facets are discovered with every sip. The alcohol is perfectly integrated, the 60% is present, but seems mild rather than harsh. Admittedly not cheap, but it is also a special rum.

I will keep the score and just enjoy the rums and I have all of them on my shelves as well. ---------------- This is a rum powerhouse and definitely worth a try if you like a fireworks of taste.

Dark is probably the keyword for this rum. Tropical wood, chocolate, coffee, caramel, light sweetness, light bitter notes. There are not so many tropically matured Demeraras at such a good price....

Heavy, dark, oily. For me, the incarnation of completely tropically aged rums from Guyana. The parallel tasted Skeldon (RX122) seems to me a little more "aggressive", edgier, this one against round and pleasing. Update 2022-10-07: Christmas is approaching and that apparently affects my taste perception as well. Now I taste so delicious gingerbread in the finish that the rum promptly gets one point more. 😋

The nose gradually reveals more and more. Wood, caramel, coconut, vanilla, raisin, roasted aromas and also some glue. Pleasantly creamy/oily in the mouth with chocolate, caramel, a slight sweetness, wood and raisin. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. For me, one of the best Diamonds.

A rum that every lover should try times. Nice and strong, a lot of dark chocolate, some raisin and coconut and with proper wood and rusty notes especially in the long finish. And everything nice and round. 👍

9,3:On the nose, the first impression we get is a well-caramelized, strongly toasted profile, with coffee and roasted wood.So, there are caramel, nuts like walnut, hazelnut and pecan, caraway seeds, smoked oak.The molasses is vegetal with black tea and herbaceous notes. The sweetness comes with aeration.Most of burnt notes are gone, caramel and nuts with nougat, confectionery stay.Once the bark is broken, the thick liquid flows out, rich, syrupy, the wood is soft, there are dried banana, papaya, tobacco, vanilla and caramel, thick.Pure joy. 9,2:On the palate, the attack is thick, Demerara is immediately apparent. There are gourmet flavors, the 60% alcohol is greatly integrated with coconut, tobacco, cinnamon, clove and vanilla coating the entire palate with warmth.You could imagine a mellow, charred oak, like a brioche whose thick fiber has been torn with notes of banana, peaches, raisins, dried apricots, licorice and vanilla cream.Some earthy notes with must or peat, cigar crawl in after resting the rum...even meaty... 9:The finish is long, with bourbon notes, coconut, vanilla and tobacco.If we persist, dark berries and dried fruits join in the end, with dark, caramelized chocolate and black tea, a bit tannic...Delicious. Really super tasty. I am thrilled. Heavenly nose with nut, chocolate, raisin and coconut embedded in wood, tobacco and a medicinal note. On the palate, Sachertorte (dark chocolate & apricots) with iodine, varnish, wood and nut. Very round, elegant and with a great melt. For me (today) ahead of the Skeldon. EDit: Direct comparison of the Rare Collection ... 1st place clearly to the CBH, then the EHP just ahead of this Albion (possibly daily form) ... then the Skeldon.

Another great rum from Guyana! Dark, heavy and intense, I'm getting caramel and oak on the palate. A great finish. Just stunning! It's a pity Eldorado are no longer releasing these Rare Collection rums seeing that they would have the pick of the barrels that come out of Diamond.

In der Nase eine starke blumige Note mit viel Vanille und Honig. Auch der Geruch von rotem Wein aus dem Barrique-Fass ist vorhanden. Am Gaumen zunächst süsslich karamellisiert, Vanille und Pflaume! Cremig und mild verteilt er sich. Später kommt eine leichte Pimentschärfe und dunkle Schokolade dazu! Der Abgang ist mittellang und angenehm! Ein klasse Rum !

Now we have arrived in the world class of rum. Great nose here, vanilla, chocolate, caramel and wood are recognizable. The palate is also rather sweet, caramel, vanilla and chocolate, but wood and oak are also recognizable. Really delicious.

A superb Albion, which I would describe as an iron hand in a velvet glove. There are very sweet, caramelized, chocolate, vanilla, caffeine and spicy aromas on the nose that mingle with the fruity sweetness. This sweetness is found on the palate, with a dark, slightly toasted structure and a hint of licorice. The alcohol is absolutely not perceptible, but we feel all the intensity and subtlety that this rum gives off. The finish, quite long, is more spicy, dry and tannic, but also offers very appreciable notes of freshness. A superb rum with an incredible quality/price ratio, especially compared to the Albion from Velier.

Day 18 calendar Samples de Luxe.A lively, soft and sweet nose with leather, varnished wood, pineapple and lemon.A greedy mouthfeel, immediate fullness and broad, deep flavors.The finish is long with a nice bitterness and well-integrated alcohol.A rum you want to drink a glass of again. Empty glass, English club atmosphere with old leather and varnished wood furniture and a fireplace in the background.

Unusual impact for a Demerara - reminiscent of a mix of Foursquare and low ester Jamaican: coconut, red fruit, dried fruit and a touch of ester. Even fruitier in the mouth with tropical fruits in perfect balance with the wood.This is super round and harmonious, the alcohol is fantastically integrated. I am thrilled! Once again a whole new facet of Savalle still!

Very round balanced nose, besides the obvious notes I find wet old wood and malt. The palate is very oily and smooth. Spice, sweetness, tannins/wood and fruitiness are almost perfectly balanced. The bitter notes are a bit out of kilter for me and dominate the finish as well. An excellent rum!

Franconian Tasting Gang Edit: at the tasting, some El Dorados like this one, as well as the Enmore and Skeldon were tasted. The conclusion: you can't go wrong with any of these bottlings. In contrast to the Velier bottlings, these are still available at affordable prices and the difference for me is only minimal.

The rums from the rare El dorado collection are really excellent! You've got to wonder how it is that you can still find them on the market, especially at their release price. For me, these rums are truly of superior quality at a more than reasonable price.

Every time I drink this rum, I think to myself that someone made it especially for me. Extremely appealing aroma - raisins, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, some wood and spices. And the taste doesn't fall down one bit - rich, complex, berries, wood, vanilla, chocolate again. DDL could be more transparent about the production, but when the result is this, all is forgiven.

Very woody nose. Caramel, vanilla. A certain intensity. A touch of acidity. On the palate, the wood is very present. Vanilla too. Then a caramelized sensation, followed by coconut. The rum encompasses the whole mouth. Very pleasant! Warm, gourmand finish. Very pleasant.

👃 Whaou! Big soft caramel, burnt sugar in its old pan, Madagascar vanilla bean, coffee bean, cappuccino, chocolate, crushed walnut kernels. Fruit is expressed in a bowl of raisins. I also find candied Morello cherries. The cask expresses itself on burnt staves. Then freshness on pure Italian licorice that almost evolves into minty Vicks Vaporub. Finishes with wood glue and a light varnish. Beautiful intensity. A nose close to perfection. 92+ 😋 Little sting from the alcohol but at 60% I expected no less. It's very well integrated. Then all manner of caramel; crème catalane, caramel tart, salted butter caramel, werther's caramel bonbon, fudge. Delicious fudges. Roasted oilseeds, cashews I'd say. Licorice returns in stick form, as does cinnamon. Magnificent palate but a notch below the palate. 90+ ⛳ Bitter dark chocolate with chilli, cappuccino again, then we finish on various dried flowers that you'd smell if you walked into a Dammann boutique. An excellent representative of the Demerara style.

Color: maroon Aroma: Sweet of forest honey and spicy-aromatic of chocolate giants (toffee, chocolate), mocha and chocolate prince... Creamy, creamy candy, plum jam, sandalwood, almond and marzipan. Yummy! Taste: Wow is this yummy! Sweet and creamy in the mouth, dark berry fruit, then becomes spicy alcoholic. When swallowing very spicy with lots of dark wood, almond, cocoa and toffee. Finish: Long Spicy and woody with toffee and chocolate. Dry 92 points A superior rum

Edit from today. Thanks Tim so much for opportunity to try this great rum! Comparing with Skeldon, this one has much less wood influence in taste. On the other hand it is less sweet, carmel and orange peel stand out, some tannins in the end. I really enjoyed all three rare cask releases that i tried. Slight preference towards Skeldon.

Just tried again blind against the big brother Velier 94er. This one does not need to hide. Top PLV! A beguiling fragrance. Fruity, spicy, woody. Pleasant sweetness of honey, of red dove, cherries, something exotic like lychee coconut. Floral, orange blossom, slightly woody-leathery, with vanilla. Slightly buttery towards creamy caramel. On the palate, it has a lot going for it as well. Complex and delicious. Fruity spicy again, with more wood. Plum, cherry and orange peel. Sūß and salty at the same time. Slightly tart, dark, malty, toasty with menthol and licorice.Totally great!

what noble drop has strayed into my glass. in the context of this year's advent calendar in which the fine things are first blind tasted and in the evening is aired what is in the glass. A gelungenee noble rum. The woody warm therefore comes. Hard to believe that he has over 60 vol alcohol. Leather, raisin and wood notes. Which are really perfectly matched.
