Sipped neat, this pours golden and leans sweet and woody: caramel, vanilla, a bit of chocolate and dried fruit, with oak that hangs around on the finish. Several tasters loved the fruity, apple-and-cherry nose but found the palate thinner than 15 years suggests. One member summed it up: "wonderful on the nose," slightly less so once you drink it. A gentle, easygoing Cuban.

Another rum from the Advent calendar. This one with only 38 percent is quite sweet. Slightly fruity and nutty on the nose. The taste matches that. Not a recommendation from me, I wouldn't buy it.

The last three I was still missing from the 24 days of Rum Advent calendar. Nose very woody, also some nut and vanilla. On the palate similar, quite spicy, some chocolate and caramel come in here as well.

Ein leichter, süßer und holzbetonter Rum. In der Nase fallen Apfel, Nüsse und Vanille auf. Am Gaumen kommen Karamell und Trockenfrüchte hinzu. Für 15 Jahre wirkt er erstaunlich dünn, wenig komplex und unspektakulär. Hier hätte ein höherer Alkoholgehalt positiv beigetragen.

An age of 15 years it doesn’t really suggest, instead very drinkable, way too thin. Positively, a note of fresh apple stands out, which after a while turns into sweet apple tea and makes the whole thing interesting again.

24 Days of Rum 2024 - Black Edition - Day 18 Erster Eindruck: Fruchtig, Erdbeere, leicht und angenehm Nase: süße Früchte, etwas Vanille, ein bißchen Fass und Hefe Gaumen: hier überlagern die 15 Jahre im Fass andere Aromen, aber es bleiben Honig und Schokolade Abgang: mittelkurz, sehr typische Holz, Vanille und Röstaromen Gesamteindruck: spannender Kontrast zwischen Nase und Gaumen, ganz okay aber auch nichts, was mich besonders beeindruckt

The aroma is pleasantly fruity, sweet. I catch hints of green apple, cherry; possibly sour cherry. The taste is more similar to Cuban rums, full although quite gentle in this piece. Classically you can feel vanilla, woodiness, cocoa or chocolate, dried fruit as well as a hint of leather. The finish is medium length and woody. Overall it neither offends nor excites.

In the nose dried fruit, vanilla, lightly nuts. The taste is oversweetened, caramel, fruit, dried fruit, vanilla. Sweet caramel finish with vanilla. Quite an unpleasant bitter tail that bothers me even more than the sweetness. This is not my cup of tea.

Great to try a Cuban rum in US. Must have snuck through in this calendar. Caramel and plenty of oak. Golden pour. Wood sticks with you for a bit on the finish. Pleasant all around but perhaps not super complex. Day 18 on 24 days of rum.
