Review by Jeremy Roger 🇫🇷
It smells fruity Jamaican, in the mouth it's spicy, then smoky/fruity and on citrus. It's very good! Well balanced power and fruit 🔥❤I don't think this will appeal to everyone though.

Ein junger Fiji mit adstringierendem, hohem Ester-Anteil.

A rum from the Fiji Islands. The nose is exuberant like a Jamaican rum, with its typical notes of very ripe fruits, solvents and esters. Floral and olive notes bring some freshness, while one can also feel a smoky frame that gives strength to the rum. On the palate, tropical fruits and smoky notes intermingle, offering a rum that is quite biting at first, but easily tamed afterwards. On the finish, the rum remains on smoky and tropical fruit flavors, but has less impact than the olfaction and tasting. A pleasant rum that allows to discover another land of rum unknown to the general public.

in a blind tasting, I would have guessed a high ester HD. Fermented fruit, milk cream and toasty notes dominate the nose. On the palate quite violently burned out barrel, for me almost a bit too much of a good thing. There is little room for anything else even in the finish.

On the nose I found him still quite versatile in terms of fruit, smoke, roasted aromas and something artificially sweet! On the palate he then loses noticeably. Too one-dimensional it tastes predominantly of smoke, burnt espresso and slightly bitter roasted flavors! Everything else falls more or less by the wayside! Too bad!In the finish, these flavors continue!

What do you get when blending Jamaican rum, young Guyana pot still and Isla whisky, all continental aged? Right! Let’s do 5 Fijians. SBS 2009 57% Rasta Morris 2009 60,5% Old Brothers 2011 59,1% Old Brothers 2009 63,3% The Nectar 2009 60,5% C: Gold. N: Light Esters with more cask influence. Or is it the different vintage? This being a 2011 and all the others 2009. Sweet nose with red apples and peach marmalade. Think of a “mean pot still” Bielle or even Worthy Park. M: The mouth is kind of timid. Too timid I would say. It brings some floral notes, denoting that this Fijian is different. Not so impress. The 2009 Old Bothers is the real deal. A shame I can’t find another bottle. F: Short with white pepper. Buy: No.

Yeah... Disappointment for me on this one. The alcohol is not super integrated and as if that wasn't enough, a kind of burnt rubber and smoke completely overwhelms the rum. There is some fruit behind it and a slight pastry undertone that tries to break through but fails to do so, even with time. Basically, it will please the smoked products lovers, me it is absolutely not my case.
