A rum tasted at the Lucerne Gin and Rum Festival in 2024. A nose marked by spices, burnt notes, vegetal, insulation tar, and tropical fruits including mango. The aromas immediately fill the mouth with roasted notes, glue, spices with pepper and nutmeg. A mentholated side gives this rum all its freshness, freshness that persists in the finish with a bitter and peppery side. A rum tasted with the selector of this cask and he found it especially atypical for it to be bottled for the Hofer house.

Super funky stuff here from St. Lucia. Taste-wise completely different from everything so far from St. Lucia because 100% sugarcane/Agricole. On the nose fantastically fruity with pineapple, lime zest and caramelized banana, some passion fruit with mint and slightly floral hints. Taste-wise then clearly fresher and drier and stronger than expected... spicy, sour-fresh, fruity and bitter at the same time. On the finish comes menthol and slightly burnt bicycle tube/rubber as well as some bitter orange. Very wild and exciting and definitely something different from St. Lucia! For a higher rating it would have to be a bit more harmonious but you really have to be in the mood and have time for this one! 😅

Actually shows a strong Agricole aroma, nougat sweetness, wood, spices, subtle dried fruits. Nice release, although very unusual for St. Lucia.

Vintage 2011. With 8.2 out of 10, it's a very good bottle, though not top of my list.
