Here's the surprise: this is an agricole, but a gentle, almost whisky-tinged one rather than the grassy punch you might brace for. Vanilla, caramel and toasted pastry lead, with a light body and short, sweetish finish. Some tasters found it a touch flat and "un peu ennuyant," others watched it open up over several pours into yellow fruit and freshness.

"Wollah, it's crazy!!! In summary, my tasting notes: On the nose: Vanilla, Nuts, Caramel, Popcorn. On the palate: Toasted, Clove, Caramel, Dried fruits, Vanilla. The finish rather oriented towards: Vanilla, Dried fruits, Caramel."

Sometimes you try something and you just think, OK, been there, done that and no more. This rum is one of those and I think this is a good beginners rum. The nose is fruity with pastries, floral, caramel, vanilla and nuts trailed by coffee and light barrel notes. The palate is sweet, light and fruity with spices, floral and caramel as well as a light toasted note. The finish is short to medium, sweet but diluted with dried fruit and vanilla.

Too reduced, not bad but a bit boring. Nothing is wrong but nothing exciting either. A bit earthy, very standard agricultural notes. I’m a bit perplexed because there isn’t much to say here. Just... okay.

After the first sip i didn't knew what to think of it. A few sips later it did started to grow on me. It also has some whisky vibes imo. Not bad at all.

An easy-going drink, of decent quality. At times it reminded me of Saint James Coeur de Chauffe, both on the nose and palate. Compared to Saint James, however, it is flatter and does not evolve during the drink. This Papa Rouyo is a drink I would also recommend to those who are approaching the world of rum.

Discreet on the nose, discreet on the palate, discreet on the finish. Unfortunately, this rum doesn't have much going for it... all in a very classic register. My first Papa Rouyo, probably not my last but no need to revisit this bottling.

Contrary to Soren, it's a mistake to taste only once. Distilled in 2021. Bottle that ages very well. A model of digestibility and freshness! This rum develops progressively with tastings. The very vegetal original side is replaced by very clear aromas of superb vanilla, yellow fruits (mirabelle, plum), tending towards exotic. A very fresh mouthfeel, almost licorice-like, marjoram brings depth, finesse, and balance. All with a frank, salivating texture and a nice length (without being extraordinary). It's a rum all in finesse, in freshness, without any showy side and damn it's pleasant!
