The nose is really great, plenty of dark sugar, malt, licorice, and toasty aromas. The palate continues this, relatively dry and a bit bitter, with more herbal notes. Tobacco in the finish. The alcohol is very well integrated.

Note: Activity at Perola GmbH (spirits industry), partial professional involvement with evaluated bottlings. All reviews are my personal, unpaid opinion. Finally a reasonable & affordable Diamond Guyana Rum that you don’t have to fight over! Here the exact Diamond profile is hit that I like so much and the 50% is not too thin and not too strong but very tasty and drinkable! :) Smelling and tasting a nice harmony of dark chocolate, sea salt, strong molasses, banana bread, coffee, blackberries and dried fruit as well as plenty of spices like candied ginger, cardamom, allspice, vanilla and nutmeg and then a bit of tobacco, leather and bitter orange on the finish. He could have handled 5% more alcohol but then he would have become a good deal more expensive!😉 By the way, this is a "small batch" from 5 almost identical single cask diamonds all between 64-67%. PS: Works excellently in various Tiki cocktails like the Queens Park Swizzle!

I had thought about getting a bottle, but I'll skip that. Somehow all these colored or overly heavily charred barrel-aged rums have the same all-covering basic taste, whether this one, the Woods Navy, or Dictador20 and who knows what else. A shame, I had hoped for more. 😥

Bellamy tasting. A rather dark rum with a nose of young wood, spices, raisins and burnt sugar, Sherry. Not a very well-balanced nose where flavors telescope. The palate is more balanced, soft, diluted, with tobacco and mocha, a vegetal side, leather and caramel. The finish is long, on the woody/bitter side, with a light salty and caramel note. The empty glass offers yet more fragrances. Excellent value for money.

Dark roasted Diamond profile on the nose. Lots of burnt sugar, dark chocolate and a hint of dried fruits. Same profile in the palate, yet smoother than the nose would like you to expect. Coffee, caramel, dark nougat and some maltiness. Very solid „coffee“ Diamond profile at a very accessible price. Also performs quite well in cocktails.

Recommended by Oliver at the 11th GRF as an introduction to Guyana. I wasn't very taken with it at the fair, but to be fair I think I still need something to warm up to Guyana. Now that I've tasted it at home, it's clear that I should have given it more time. I particularly like the finish, which develops from almost unpleasant salty-bitter notes to caramelized banana. It stays in the mouth for a long time. It's amazing how much the empty glass smells of PX sherry

Unexpected nose from this rum by DDL. Very dark, spicy (Maggi?!), smoky-roasty and floral, with citrus fruits, but the typical main aromas like caramel, vanilla and tropical fruits I perceive rather in the background, if at all. Maybe also because it was not aged in a bourbon barrel but only in an old rum barrel. Nice drinking strength and good price, unfortunately the profile on the nose doesn't fully grab me, but in the mouth more my thing.

I can only agree with my predecessors, the profile is top-notch. Very strong, typical Diamond with very chocolatey and malty notes. Interesting is the influence of the raisin aroma. In my opinion, a real price-performance hit.

If you're looking for the dark Guyana profile and don't want to spend too much money, you'll find it here. Of course, there's no finely chiseled aroma landscape as often found in long-aged Guyana rums, but rather a forceful impact on the receptors. Also, from the start there's a slightly dirty note in the background, which along with the mix of spicy walnuts and lovage reminds one of the animal scent of a wild boar enclosure. Not necessarily pleasant, but quite interesting and full of character. Fun!

On the nose seductive syrupy molasses, on the palate rather rust, despite the strong alcohol impact it tastes oddly flat and one-dimensional, hardly any facets. Conclusion: Easy-drinking daily sipper with a charming nose and very good value for money, but overall nothing that leaves a lasting impression. Update 01.09.2022: Currently tasting at Rum Depot, bottle freshly opened. If you want a Guyana with 100% convincing value for money, then this one. It shows again that you have to taste at least twice to judge somewhat well. Very good 83 points for this really solid rum.

Nice Diamond at a fair price. The nose first suggests something great, dark aromas with burnt sugar, fruits, and chocolate. On the palate, the alcohol is initially prominent, which could have been stronger – then there would have been more punch and flavor, but also more expensive. So it is a fair entry-level rum into the exciting world of Guyana rums!

After Barikenn 2012 PM another 2012 Demerara. Despite big differences, the nose also shows familiar notes: A hint of anise and the wet woodiness, something herbaceous are also my Demerara notes here. The leading notes, however, are burnt caramel, plus dried dates and raisins. The mouth is just as dark and roasty as the nose, with coffee, caramel and dried fruit. The finish is rather disappointingly short and without any new facets. It lacks depth and complexity and in my memory I liked the new El Dorado 15 a little better, perhaps a blend with some Rot Still Rum would have worked a small miracle here. A very commendable bottling, which is suitable for beginners as well as premium mixers due to its excellent PLV.

Great rum, no question. The price-performance ratio is okay for a Diamond. But I find it hardly better in taste than Woods Old Navy Rum RX3047. That costs half the price per liter compared to Bellamys. The bottle is not so nice. But whatever. Still, that shouldn't diminish the praise for this bottling. A flavor bomb with lots of malt candy aroma. Maybe some of you still know the Bavarian malt candies. Nice childhood memories, spiced up with 50% flavor enhancer. Very nice.

Very promising nose: raisin, allspice, wood barrel, caramel, tobacco. Almost reminds a little of old REVs! On the palate quite mild and sweet, towards caramel, dark chocolate. Unfortunately also a bit flat. If it were a bit more expressive on the palate, it would go well into the 80 rating. As it is, it only just takes it. Given the slightly more than 60 EUR that go over the counter, but a really good Guyana Sipper, perhaps even the best PLV of the year so far.

Toller Diamond. Solch ein Rum hätte ich bei dem Alter nicht erwartet. Sensationelles PLV! Sample aus dem RumX Gewinnspiel. Besten Dank an Philipp & Perola. Runder Diamond mit eher klassischem Guyana-Profil. In der Nase etwas Karamell, Vanille, dunkle Früchte und Holz. Am Gaumen weich und würzig mit Eiche, etwas Lakritz und einer leichten herben Note.

Nice young Guyanese rum! Here you can dive into the world of Guyanese rum without paying too much. Nose: Wonderful roasted aromas, dried fruits, licorice, wood and mocha. Palate: Very well balanced. Classic Guyanese notes paired, in my opinion, with the perfect alcohol strength. Finish: Medium-long. Reminiscent of a warm summer afternoon with a cigar and a good cup of coffee 😃

My first impression was a bit underwhelming, and I decided that I had just a bad day for the tasting. Second attempt proved that I was right, just gi e this one some air and it has a heavy fruity and sweet bouquet (a friend compared it to portwine). The taste keeps up, and makes this a solid sipping rum.

Überzeugt mit dunklen Früchten, Holz, dunkler Schokolade und würzigen Fassnoten. Er wirkt reif, intensiv und angenehm trocken, ohne dabei zu hart zu werden. Die Fassreifung steht klar im Vordergrund und bringt viel Charakter mit. Ein Rum für Genießer, die Tiefe und Ecken statt Süße suchen.

On the nose lots of herbal notes, some licorice/anise, roasted aromas and leather. But there is also an unpleasant musty note that I don’t like so much. On the palate similar to the nose: herbs, leather, some tobacco, caramel and roasted aromas.

An excellent Diamond from Guyana for the price. It spreads roasted aromas, chocolate, and coffee. The taste carries through, complemented by some vanilla. It could have been a bit less diluted. Great affordable rum.

In der Nase war er zurückhaltender bißchen fass und leichter Kaffee Geruch...je länger man wartet kommt noch ne schöne Röstigkeit mit. Im Mund dreht er dann auf intensives dunkles Holz mit ordentlich Mokka. Als ob man Kaffee im fass gelagert hätte. Sehr intensiv und voll mündig. Auch hier gesellen sich röstaromen dazu. Im abgang bleibt Mokka und Röstigkeit. Perfekter Kaffee Ersatz am Abend hihi

Small Herzogenaurach tasting in Flo's cellar: Wow, what is this?! Basically, nice dark notes of chocolate and molasses, plus dried fruits, dark caramel, wood, and spices. Could like it... But there's that strange oily consistency that leaves something like a fat film on the lips and tongue.

Nose: spicy, toasty (coffee?) with a bitter note (I guess burnt sugar). Also a bit of fruit. Taste: first a mix of chocolate and burnt sugar. Again spicy and toasty. Then a light coffee/mokka note and some fruity note I can't really place. Finish: medium to long. The empty glass smells spicy and fruity. I perceive a distinct raisin note. Then a clear tobacco note. Very good price-performance ratio. After getting used to this profile a bit, I like it more and more. At first I didn't like the burnt sugar at all, now I really like this spicy, toasty, bitter combination.

This Bellamys actually surprised me positively. I had long been looking for an alternative Guyana for rum beginners, apart from the ElDorado12 or 15 series, found it here and deemed it good enough. Creamy, a bit woody, a bit spicy, slight edge from the 50%, but super integrated alcohol. In the end, even a bit of licorice comes through, and a nice medium-long finish. Solid 8 points.

Trade fair tasting, so brief: Guyana is quite new to me, so this is immediately a very exciting hit. Very round mix of fruit and spice, lots of molasses and roasted spices. More fruity on the nose, darker and complex on the palate. Nice how the nuances change with every sip and new layers come through. This will definitely be ordered in large quantities and examined more closely. Addendum 1: With time for it, it only gets better. Salty, caramel, incredibly smooth and in mouthfeel for its price range so far unbeaten for me.

Beautiful dark Guyana notes with dried fruit, roasted aromas and mocha. Lots of barrel influence. The alcohol is noticeable on the palate but not disturbing. If you like this profile, you get a nice sipper for relatively little money. The bottle is super high quality. I like it.

Great Guyana, full of dark and bitter notes that I like. 50% is right where the rum is easy sipping and it still keeps its rich and robust aromas and flavous. And the price is the proverbial cherry on top.
