Most tasters agree on one thing: this drinks so much like bourbon you could blind-taste it and guess wrong. Expect loads of American oak, vanilla, toasted coconut, baked banana and a quick whiff of glue at 55.7%. Several call it round, sweet and easy despite the strength — the flip side being a narrow flavor range that a few found "leicht langweilig" (a bit boring).

Very American Oak driven rum. Not unlike a good bourbon. Nose: lots of American Oak driven flavours. Bit of banana. Lots of vanilla. Malt. Will compare this to a bourbon some day soon. Taste: again all the pleasant American oakiness. Baked banana. Nicely sweet. Pancakes. Cinnamon. Peppery finish. Maple syrop. All in all straightforward in a way but very very tasty. Definitely a U.S. worthy profile.

My first Privateer. Surprisingly characterful. Very strong cask influence. Feels stronger than 55%. Unfortunately weak in smell, no further notes at the back. Nice base spirit with longer aging surely more possible.

I like Bourbon and I like the basic character of Belize rums. This 'Privateer' feels like a successful mix of both. There's a lot of toasted wood with hints of spices and menthol, vanilla and coconut, a quickly fading glue note as well as some cocoa and a few dried fruits. Even though the aroma spectrum is rather limited, this rum is round, easy to drink and consistently pleasant.

Tried at the cherry stand at the Village in Nuremberg. I'm not a big Privateer fan, but I tried it anyway. As expected, strongly Bourbon-like with typical vanilla, toasty, coconut, dried fruit and almond notes. Well made and actually quite tasty.

A pleasantly rounded thing with full sweetness and astringency from the wood, plus an interesting glue note and hints of hazelnut. It has hardly any fruit but offers a lot of bourbon – so much that I would probably have guessed bourbon blind rather than rum. If you're looking for a relaxed, bourbon-heavy sipper, you can't go wrong here. 86/100 or 6/10

Very nice surprise and my first privateer! Had I blind on the nose rather direction Belize and taste rather direction Trinidad put. I like it very much!Lots of barrel, lots of menthol, some caramelized and tart pineapple, toasted coconut and almond and slightly smoky and burnt intense. Beautiful thing.

05.06.2022 A nice day running through samples. Notes Medium to dark in colour. Nose Round, wood, light cinnamon, maple, light melon, faint nutts. Palate Round, wood, light roasted, light clove, light nutts, faint caramel, light earthy. Finish Medium long, wood, light cinnamon, light nutts, faint caramel, light earthy.

Very very rich, so rich in heavy components that it appears a bit flat, to be honest I could define it as the bourbon of rums, it could indeed be confused with this spirit.
