Clarendon herb basket on the nose with quite a bit woodies and a bouquet of continental fruits. There is also a note which reminds me of chalk. Same notes on the palate. Very much akin to other 2007 Clarendons yet at 50% reduced to an very nice easy sipping experience. It has all notes one would like minus an alcoholic stench which is present in quite some other 07 bottlings. Nice bottling at a good ABV and very nice price point. Speaking about ABV… while the label states „natural cask strength“, I am very certain that this has been reduced at some point. Coming out at 50.0% with other casks being bottled well above 60% would be rather surprising indeed ;)

I prefer it a bit more on the nose than on the palate – because there it becomes very sharp-edged and alcoholic despite the low ABV. On the nose, fruits dominate (mainly yellow ones plus apple and guava), spices and herbs as well as some wood and a nice sweetness. On the palate, the chalk or lime note often found in lower ester Clarendons.

This rum would even be suitable for an Underdog Split. For the price asked, more than acceptable. Nice bottling that I probably would never have tried otherwise. Anyone who missed the split is, in my opinion, their own fault. Despite the probable "dilution," it delivers very well.
