You might expect a wild ester bomb from a 60% Hampden, but this LROK/HLCF blend surprises people by being gentle and balanced. Caramelized pineapple, banana, mango and a touch of glue and solvent, with oak underneath. Several tasters call it an elegant everyday Hampden — funky but easy-drinking, the esters dialed back a step. The 60% stays warm and creamy rather than harsh.

... Hampden, legendary Jamaican distillery that besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery you can feel wild esters, after which your whole body soaks in the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of those rums you "must try before you die".

Very elegant nose. Funky. Glue-like. A grassy sensation. Very balanced. On the palate, warm, intense, woody, fruity. Very good. Very elegant. Funky, but not just on the esters. Slight acidity on the finish. Long finish. Nice to get down a little on the esters.

An elegant nose of caramelized pineapple and esters. The palate is soft and balanced, with tropical fruits (banana, pineapple, mango) and the esters still present, though a little subdued. The rum fades fairly quickly, leaving a warm, creamy, spicy sensation on the palate. A fine everyday Hampden, balanced and smooth, but still letting the distillery's typical markers shine through.

Magnificent nose with loads of fruit, a bit of solvent, but it’s very balanced, a little acidity like Hampden, and some indulgence with pastry notes. A nicely complex palate, well-controlled alcohol, plenty of fruit but also a bit of harlequin candy, biscuit, really interesting. A beautiful fruity and indulgent finish.
