05.03.2016 Finally back in Kolding again after some years at Messe C in Fredericia. Much easier to get home when it's within walking distance. Had my good friend from Singapore visit for a month and that ended up in a lot of tasting 😊 This was a bottle i brought and it ended up empty before the day was over. Notes. Nose: overripe fruits, banana, light wood, ester, glue. Palate: balanced, fresh, intense, citrus, banana, caramel, light medicinal, light roasted wood. Finish: lightly dry, wood, light smoke, ester, fruits.

Advent calendar #15. Pretty sure it's a Hampden. Initially thought a high Ester, but after some time in the glass I miss the wildness here. Ally typical markers present, but all very subtle. Solid, but doesn't blow me away.

RX Calendar 24: I quite like the BBR on the nose, fermented fruits, cream, medicinal. But on the palate, it falls a bit short, with acidity and watery hints at the same time. The bar is set very high with the 1990s HDs. The BBR is good, but definitely not throne-worthy.

Retasting RumX Advent calendar, number 15 This is how retasting is fun. Very tasty. On December 15 I also smelled it but unfortunately had no time to guess in the evening. I was mostly wrong, but I also guessed an old continental C<>H. Normally with this profile I'm always the philistine and prefer tropical. But this is tasty. Intense, soft, balanced, aromatic ... despite the low ABV. One of the highlights so far.

Now here is number 15 from the Advent calendar. Once again a highlight here from Hampden. Very fruity on the nose and also noticeable in the taste, of course very much ester. Very good rum

Day 15 of the RumX Advent calendar: This 1990 C<>H is by far not an unbridled ester steamroller. Instead, these are integrated in a remarkably elegant way into a rounded and smooth overall picture. Friends of stormy aroma blasts might miss the punch due to the very mild mouthfeel caused by dilution, but I find it quite nice to be able to take a bigger sip of such a high-ester Jamaican and roll it around in the mouth for a long time without problems. It doesn’t always have to be cask strength!

Tag 15 RumX Adventskalender 2024 Schon kurz nach Mitternacht daran genascht und eigentlich auf Hampden festgelegt. Hab hier auf einen Low Ester getippt, dass es doch ein C<>H ist, o.k. Die Verdünnung verwehrt ihn jedenfalls für mich eine bessere Bewertung. Ist mir zu brav für das Mark.

Calendrier de l’Avent RumX, jour 15. Un nez d’esters faisant immédiatement penser à Hampden, beaucoup de fruits, ananas et fruits tropicaux. Un bois discret et une couleur qui fait penser à un rhum jeune. La bouche est étonnamment diluée, les esters et les fruits se développent puis disparaissent assez vite. La finale est ainsi courte, même si persistent longtemps du bois et de l’ananas confit. Il ne s’agit sans doute pas d’un rhum jeune en fait, mais la dilution brouille les cartes et crée un rhum hybride (esters et dilution) pas très intéressant à mon goût. Il faut quand même ajouter que ce rhum a un très beau nez.

Really very tasty and balanced, well diluted Hampden. It doesn't always have to be cask strength. I would have guessed blind that this was the 44% CDI Hampden DOK. Ripe pineapple, lime, butter cookies, roasted almond cookies (Florentines), marzipan, and slightly smoky and sour fruity sweet. Nice one!

RumX Calendar 2024 Day 15: Nose clearly high ester Jamaica. Sour, glue, pineapple. C<>H Hampden? Surprisingly soft and creamy in the mouth, alcohol is very well integrated and combined with light wood creates a nice complexity & fruitiness. Should be a bit older. I really like it!

I probably wouldn't have guessed a 90s Hampden, if only because of the light color. However, this seems to be the result of dilution, which is still quite restrained on the nose but strongly noticeable on the palate. A smooth rum, but a higher proof wouldn't have hurt.

Got home from work in order to pour the sample and leaving again for Sunday dinner. Let it develop in the meantime. Definitely esters in the nose . Esters, glue, tropical fruits, alcohol very well integrated, it’s smooth. High ester Hampden in a lovely marriage with the wood. ABV estimated in the lower 50’s? It’s familiar somehow, maybe I’ve had it in the glass before. I would say maybe C<>H, but impossible to be 100% sure of that statement. Maybe a long continentally aged C<>H? I like it a lot

RumX Advent calendar day 15. The nose immediately reveals where the journey goes. Jamaica with lots of esters and tropical fruits. On the palate also esters and medicinal, but again fruity with tropical fruits like pineapple.

RumX Advent Calendar 2024: No. 15 Absolute ester fireworks today with fruity influences. Probably not aged long in the cask, as the wood influences barely come through. I'd say this rum definitely comes from Jamaica. I'm not an ester fan but this rum convinces with its quality.

Tag 15 RumX Adventskalender kontinentaler Jamaika eindeutig. Für mich irgendwie zu eindimensional, irgendwie fehlt Power. Alles da was Jamaika Rum braucht tropische Früchte buttrig ein wenig Zitrusfrüchte ein wenig Säure. Leicht bitter im Abgang. Grundsätzlich nicht schlimm das er verdünnt ist. Für mich ist nur leider nichts besonderes an ihm was ihn sehr unspektakulär macht für einen 1990er. Preis Leistung nicht vertretbar

Pleasant experience. Tasted blind, I guessed Jamaica with hesitation between Hampden and Long Pond. However, I thought it was younger...

There we have for sure hampden in the glass. Maybe a blend low/high esters, because there is a great fruitiness (ananas juice) together with rotting fruit and especially on the nose some kind of plastic and chemical notes.

RumX Advent calendar 2024 door number 15. Very nicely fruity on the nose, a whole fruit salad. On the palate an elegant mix of cask maturation, root/earth, roasted and fruity and even a little bit of sweetness.

Rumy-X advent calendar Oliver Gerhart 2024 Day 15 Tempts us to a great experience, esters, fruit, calm wood. Also year 1990, these old C<>H are usually amazing. This one shouldn't be an exception, unfortunately, in my opinion, it was very harmed by excessive dilution.

Eine interessante Abfüllung. Hampden war relativ schnell klar. Am Anfang noch cremig, daher auf einen <>H aus den 2000ern getippt. Dann aber mehr Säure und weniger Süße. Daher auf C<>H mit unter 50% ungeschwänkt. Definitiv kontinental. Eigentlich ganz lecker aber etwas dünn. Edit: Mit einem 1990 habe ich nicht gerechnet. Aber auf der anderen Seite auch erst 17Jahre. Dann passt das. Genial eine so alte Abfüllung aus den Anfänger probiert haben zu können.

Ester, varnish and leather, whip it out baby. Unfortunately, the nose is somewhat ruined in the diluted taste. Among the tropical fruits, nothing really stands out. Jamaica can be more fun, so unfortunately only good.
