A very sweet start, initially reminiscent of bourbon and becoming increasingly fruity. Similarly strong cherry aromas as in the Chairmans from Rumstylez. Generally very fruity, becoming increasingly woody and warm towards the finish. A certain smokiness stands out from time to time. The alcohol could be a little better integrated.

Caramel sweetness and vanilla with spices and smoke. Solid craftsmanship, but in terms of taste, St. Lucia spoils us with completely different complexities. Therefore, for me, unfortunately, rather unspectacular.

Dégustation d'un sample de 3cl. 👃 Beaucoup d'aspect du fût de chêne, le boisé est torréfié et développe des odeurs de caramel, de sucre roux, de vanille, de cacao (coque et Van Houten), d'épices assez vives (poivre rouge, piment). L'aspect fruité est en retrait par rapport à d'autres Chairman single cask. Un peu de fruits secs et confits du Cognac et de l'Armagnac (prunes, raisins secs, fruits à cake sur ces petites cerises confites). L'alcool est assez présent au nez. 😋 Moins alcoolisée et plus chaude, intense et réconfortante. Très boisée encore, chocolat noir 90%, cappuccino, caramel cuit, toffee, piment doux, toujours cet aspect fût d'eau de vie de raisins avec la saveur de cerises sucrées et amères. ⛳ Assez longue, chaude sur des épices vives, du chocolat noir, le fût de Cognac, quelques feuilles de thé séchées. Bel embouteillage, suffisamment complexe et équilibrée pour apprécier pleinement la dégustation. Assez fou ce que 9 ans de vieillissement tropical peuvent donner en arômes de torréfaction. À retester.

You do notice the column style again clearly, with the ex-brandy barrel probably bringing in some interesting fruity notes.

Nez : Cacao/Caramel/Piment Bouche : complexe mais un peu trop porté, à mon gout, sur des notes empyreumatiques (boisé-torréfié-cuir). On retrouve également un peu de chocolat amer et de la vanille. La finale est plutôt longue sur le chocolat noir. Cette sélection plaira particulièrement aux amoureux des rum plus lourd, ce qui est moins mon cas.
