The nose promises more than the palate delivers, and that's the recurring note here. You get sugarcane, honey and nutmeg up front, then vanilla, orange peel and oak spice on a round, gentle body — but several tasters find it flattens out mid-palate and the finish drops off short. At 42% there's a little heat too. Pleasant and cognac-like, just not deep.

A nice packaging for a rum not really convincing. There are many agricoles at lower cost and more interesting. That said, it's a successful rum but it lacks diverse aromas and depth. Quite a bad value for money.

#4969 11.12.2024 Enjoying a few samples at home celebrating that I have my diabetes under control. Got a lot of credits from my doctor being able to level out my 3 month bloodsugar extremely fast 😊 Nose Light wood, sweet, light, dried fruit, light caramel, spice, light honey, faint ginger. Palate Round, light, sweet, light wood, raisin, light grass, faint floral, light honey, light ginger, light orange. Finish Medium long, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, faint floral, light apricot, light caramel. The empty glass has stronger floral notes and light licorice.

After the JM Canopée, this is really flatter. On the nose but also on the palate. It's honeyed and spicy but that's about it. A bit disappointing.

With Elixir, the sugarcane juice is certainly meant, which here comes on stage combined with a moderate vegetal note for an Agricole, but with a noticeable sharpness for 42%. Tasty and definitely not a bad rum, but at this price point, I would wish for more soul.

Read full review ›The finish is rich and warming with marmalade and oak spice which fades into a dry and woody finish. A touch short yes - but what is there is very very good. A hugely enjoyable expression of Agricole Rhum and easily one of the best I have tried so far.
