This is like the 2012 release also in a nice bottle and equally good. The nose is intense and fruity with spices and light herbal, earth and woody notes. If you leave the empty glass you will also get chocolate notes after a while. The palate is fruity with caramel, vanilla and light wood, tobacco and herbal notes. The finish is medium long with wood, caramel, chocolate and raisin. I recommend leaving the empty glass for a few hours and then whif it again. Again, love that they kept a high ABV.

A delicious rum, with milk chocolate, vanilla and caramel. You can really feel the Oloroso finish. On the other hand, I don't know if the altitude aging really adds anything...

It's a rum with a strong bitter taste. Quite funky and special. If you're a rum lover who doesn't mind bitterness, it seems like a delicacy to enjoy dry occasionally in summer. ----------------------------------------------- Aroma: Soft and warm feeling. Caramel, leather base with jujube. A bit of nail polish, esters, and a little bit of peat added. There's also milk chocolate. Taste: The moment it hits the mouth, oak, with a very subtle peat nuance. It feels like bitter medicine diluted with water placed on the tongue. The aroma and taste contrast. Also feels like chewing bitter vegetables like dried kale. Finish: Moderate spiciness and oak, and the bitter medicine still dominates.

Bottle. Fancy bottle that’s a bit flashy. Very expensive for what it is. But you can’t beat La Maison’s discount. At half price definitely a great bottle. At full price don’t even get close. What a fun combination of the sherry cask with the barrel. Regardless of the aging region they say plays a role, the rum is simply good and tasty. Very fruity and very sweet. A nice combination of chocolate, red apples, and grapes. Bright fruits with an emphasis on oranges.
