The Whisky Agency Uitvlugt 1990
"Flets. Is that all?" sums up the divide here. This 25-year Uitvlugt from Guyana leans dry and woody — pencil shavings, anise, light diesel, a bit of marzipan and faint plum. Fans call it a nicely balanced sipper with tropical fruit and minerality; others found the palate thin and watery for the age. Light-bodied and restrained rather than a big dark Demerara bomb.

- Woody, dry balance
- But: Thin, watery palate

Almond?Marzipan? I do not know. A little sweet. Quite solid.

Beautiful 1990 Uitvlugt with a pleasant balance of tropical fruit flavors, wood influences, subtle spices and some minerality. Great drinking rum with a pleasant complexity.

Wood, malt, spices, pencil shavings, licorice, herbs and some plum on the nose. Unfortunately quite watery and thin on the palate. Also woody, with pencil shavings, spices, malt and little fruit. Quite dry.

Evaluation of a residual sample * Tastes very watered down and reminds me a bit of a young Portmourant/Uitvlugt - I tasted it at the same time as Gunnar's Mörtelrum (Nobilis Uitvlugt 95) because I thought I could taste parallels, but the Nobilis is in a completely different league, so the taste has to settle before you can taste any subtle nuances from this one. A little papaya, a little pencil, but all in all I had higher expectations of 25 years of ageing.

For me, this is a rather underrated rum. For me, it has a strong taste of marzipan and I find it really class. No world class rum but definitely very good.
