Renaissance Single Rum Fino Cask (TWE Exclusive) 2018
One taster called it "very impressive," another admitted it just didn't hit their palate — this young Taiwanese pot-still splits the room. The nose leans hard vegetal: dried herbs, overripe banana, lime and a whiff of varnish, with the Fino cask showing up mostly at the very end as a dry, salty-nutty note. On the palate you get red fruits, rosemary and roasted wood. Naturally sweet, no dosage, but the short age shows through.

A nose of dried herbs, vegetal and overripe banana, at once a little nauseating, lively and fruity. Red fruits, lime and varnish. In the background, a rounder, sweeter molasses side. The entry is vegetal, with alcohol present but not dominant. The fruit then develops, with red fruit, lime and a sweet edge of spice and rosemary. The finish is long, with more wood and bitterness. At the very end, rosemary and dried lime. The Fino reveals itself at the very end. A discovery here, a very interesting and promising rum.

#6542 25.03.2026 Back after picking up my wife and now another set of samples. Listening to E-Mov and Safe Mode on Spotify. First off, thanks Tony for this pretty good sample. The nose is medium intense with roasted wood, banana, anise, citrus and a light floral touch. The palate is oily and naturally sweet with roasted wood, herbs, caramel, anise and light mint. The finish is very long with roasted wood, peach, mint and ginger.

It’s an interesting rum and glad I had the opportunity to try it. On the younger side but fairly well integrated given the age. The nose has elements of pot still ester and more tropical notes, with a full on mouth where the lack of aging comes through more. Some light sweeter notes with barrel influence and finish with some spice. It handles the ABV well with a shortish finish with some herbs and tar notes. It’s a bit hard to place and my first Taiwanese rum so no direct comparisons. Worth trying although the RRP at £175 brings it into the same league as some true big guns!

Read full review →It's left me intriqued and a little baffled. Whether this is the distillery signature style remains to be seen. I'm certainly very curious to try more. Though at £175 a bottle - I'm hoping future releases are a bit more budget friendly. I've a feeling this distillery is likely to...

A very delicate melange with the Fino cask, really strong aromas of agricole vegetale Charakter, sucar Cane and molasses, cocoa butter and rosemary, on the palate this continues almost the same with some more spices of vanilla and cinnamon. It ends strong with a dried lime slice, rosemary and the residue of an empty glass of fino. Very impressive
