Old Brothers Hampden & Monymusk MLC/HJF Open Spirits 2002
Overripe pineapple, mango and apricot up front, with that classic Hampden funk, varnish and rubber sitting underneath. It's a Hampden/Monymusk blend at full 66% strength, so it lands hot but the fruit and esters keep it interesting. A few tasters note the two halves don't fully knit together, and the finish turns woody, nutty and a little burnt-plastic for some.
- Overripe tropical fruit
- Big ester funk
- Long warm finish

How does Old Brothers Hampden & Monymusk MLC/HJF Open Spirits 2002 taste?
Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Hot, funky, fruit-driven Jamaican blend Most rate it highly as an intense, fruity Jamaican blend with real ester funk. The catch: the Clarendon/Monymusk and Hampden sides don't always merge smoothly, and the alcohol shows.

Review by John Coffey
An excellent blend where greediness and power are mixed. It is magnificent.
Review by TheRhumhoe
A Jamaican blend that starts with a nose full of greed and flavors, combining tropical fruits, nuts, solvents, smoky and caramelized notes with a nice balance. Powerful in the mouth, the rum remains faithful to what is in the nose, with the same greediness. The alcohol is well integrated, even if the first sip is quite strong. The finish is long and wants to be warm and sweet, the apricot prolonging the pleasure. A very nice blend.

Review by zabo
Verkostet am Wu Dram clan Stand beim 1. Deutschen Armagnac Festival. Die Idee die dahinter steckt ist ganz nett. Die Vereinigung zwischen Hampden und Clarendon. Wobei Clarendon sehr Dominant am Gaumen ist und Hampden sich erst nach dem Abgang zeigt.
Review by Johannes
Interesting combination! However, it is not quite clear to me why one fabricates such a blend. At the beginning and in the middle part, the typical astringent Clarendon notes come out, in the finish rather the Hampden notes.
