Green apple and leather on the nose, the barrel comes through in the background. On the palate typical Agricole, dry, fruity. Good mildness, wood and leather remain on the finish.

Got this 5cl sample of the 3yo Damoiseau VO from Rum Ratings Tasting Club. The nose is woody and round with scents of honey and vanilla. At the palate it’s sweet, woody and round with flavors of orange, coffee and cardamom. The finish is medium long with flavors of coffee and cardamom.

An entry-level agricole with notes of sugarcane, dried fruits, vanilla, grass, and young wood. It feels pleasantly dry but also quite light, one-dimensional, and lacks depth. A solid everyday rum with good value for money, but not one with great distinctiveness.

This is not my kind of rum to drink neat. Maybe not wrong in a cocktail. Very fresh-grassy aromas, some fruit towards green apple. Bitter, musty and overall watery, slightly woody.

A classic rum in the permanent range, this VO from Damoiseau begins with sweet caramelized notes, dried fruit, mild spices (vanilla, nutmeg) and a fairly young woodiness. The agricultural freshness comes after aeration in the glass. On the palate, the rum goes off in all directions: sometimes towards dried fruit, sometimes herbaceous and earthy, then on toasted notes, before moving on to spicy woodiness and finally the agricultural bitterness of sugarcane. The texture is both soft and syrupy. The low alcohol content (40%) leaves the palate with an impression of lightness, at once clear and a little insipid. On the finish, a dry profile of oak, pepper and coffee emerges, with hints of coconut, grass and tannins. Without being a bad rum, this Damoiseau lacks the length, depth, impact and coherence in flavors, which go off in all directions, to be a competitive VO compared with other better-positioned cuvées.

The nose is relatively restrained... besides light caramel and citrus notes, the alcohol dominates. On the palate initially dark chocolate, then unpleasant peppery nuances and alcohol again! The finish is slightly woody and chocolaty.

Blind Avent 2024: Nice and fresh nose, also nice on the palate with sugar and honey but alcohol poorly integrated. Length also on the alcohol. Ultimately no clear marker, ESB quite flat.

I did not like the 👃 to be honest. But on the 👅 the taste is much milder, more balanced. It is kind of sweet, you can taste the wood, vanilla, hint of spiciness. Not bad at all. Reminds me of a home made liquor but in a good way. Finish is medium to long one.
