People land oxthis bottle for one reason: for a young agmartinique agagit drinks like a proper 6-year-old-old sipper. Expect citrus zest, blond tobacco, fresh sugarcane and clear vanilla over a fine, spicy oak. A few tasters find the palate thinner and drier than the gorgeous nose promises, but most call it complex and genuinely enjoyable neat.

This one was a surprise especially when looking at the price tag. Lovely Agricole notes mixed really well with fruits, cane and some vanilla.

Yeah, for its 45% ABV it's really good. On the nose mostly woody, also some fruit notes can be detected. On the palate then wood dominates, also very vegetal and the agricole comes through. Reasonable rum.

Goûté au RhumFest 2024 : Encore un HSE au rapport qualité-prix très intéressant.. Un agricole typique mais bien réalisé. On y retrouve les marqueurs habituels sur ces embouteillages donc pas de grande surprise. Vraiment très agréable.

Update: just bought a bottle of this and I have to push my score a little higher. For 39€ this may be one of the craziest deals out there. Beautiful blond tobacco flavors, excellent as both easy sipper as well as in ti-punch. First review: At 36€ this is a steal and I understand why it won a gold medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. Made from a single variety of cane, R570, from a single patch of plantation land. Citrus, blond tobacco, hint of orange, and lots of clearly discernible vanilla. It’s not fully a “coup de cœur” for me but for the price it is great.

A very fresh and rather nice nose, quite marked citrus zest at the forefront, a bit of wood and cotton candy at times. However, the palate disappointed me a bit, I probably expected more given the notes and reviews. I found it quite pale in the end, clearly below the nose, with a finish that completely falls off. A rum that still shows 45 but despite everything too diluted. So in terms of value for money, it's indeed not bad, considering there's not much at 35 euros, but not a must-have for me. I'd rather spend 10 more and go for another young juice.

A wood-aged rum that perfectly combines the power of the distillate with the refinement of aging. Cane, tobacco and young wood mingle with spices and exotic fruits to create an explosive, dry and elegant whole. On the palate, the explosiveness of the rum is palpable, with notes of aromatic herbs, chamomile and candied cane that play off a fine, young woodiness, spicy spice and exuberant fruitiness. The whole is remarkably balanced and complex. The finish continues the duel between spices and wood and aromatic herbs and floral notes, with no clear winner but a pleasing palate. A fine exercise in parcel-aged rum, combining power and finesse at a derisory price.

The nose is very complex and the wine note is very present, not unpleasant. The alcohol is well integrated and the 45% suits the rhum really well. The finish is long and dry with a slight spiciness. This rhum is something for connoisseurs and impresses with its complexity.

Generally speaking, agricole is not my biggest buddy, but with HSE it's usually an exception and their rums are nice. Typical agricole tones are complemented by fruity and caramel notes and even at lower ABV it works very nicely.

I was impressed by the price after the first sip, for 39€ I think the experience as a whole is very fair. I think it's definitely suitable whether you're an experienced palate or a beginner. Beautiful fruity aromas mingle with the agricole notes.

An accessible and harmonious Agricole, with floral notes and fresh sugarcane at the forefront. Vanilla, a bit of brown sugar, and subtle wood that don't overshadow the fresh character. The alcohol is pleasant, the finish rather short but fitting. An uncomplicated daily sipper, a great entry into the world of barrel-aged Agricoles at a great price.

Clearly French influence, if you tasted it blind I would describe it as a mild Cognac that doesn’t hide its rum aspects. Despite 45% ABV, very mild and easy to drink.

I love this house and this rum is no exception, despite its young age. You can feel the youth with the floral side of the rum, which the wood hasn't erased. The wood brings a lot of spice, with honey in the foreground and a little toastiness (from the American barrel??).

Advent 2023 A good, easy, sweet, original rum. Good for a simple 18-month-old esb. Very smooth, low alcohol content. Floral nose with discreet caramel vanilla, perceptible but discreet wood, no alcohol. Good sweetness. Mouth in the same tones, with a little attack of honey, a little spice, very soft, and above all, very long. A very pleasant surprise for an 18-month ESB, even if not quite to my taste.
