A bottle finished too quickly. I was lucky to do a tasting of LABOURDONNAIS products directly at the distillery. I clearly had a very good feeling about their product range. My real crush is on this XO that I brought home. Tasted at home with the right people and in good conditions, this XO reveals itself as a very good rum. I recommend this rum to all kinds of people, amateur or expert, it will always be a very nice discovery. From my point of view, it's a distillery with a lot of potential.

#6205 09.01.2026 Relaxing after a full week at my new job and I really like it though a lot of new things have to be learned. Nose Round, fresh, light wood, light honey, nutts, citrus, light marzipan, spice. Palate light wood, faint roasted, light caramel,, light honey, cinnamon, naturally sweet, prunes, faint coffee. Finish Medium long, light peppery, naturally sweet, light citrus, cinnamon. Empty glass Light honey light floral , marzipan, dried fruit, light caramel.

The few bottlings from Mauritius, which I was allowed to taste so far, could not convince me yet.Therefore, this Labourdonnais surprised me positively. Vegetable and spicy notes predominate, which I expect from a sugar cane juice-based rum. Light vanilla, citrus and barrel aromas round out the impression in the nose and on the palate.Only the for me somewhat low alcohol content of 42% is to be criticized by me. Personally, I would have liked a few percent more. Special points again receives the XO for its surprisingly long finish, which leaves very pleasant Agricole notes on the palate.

You can clearly taste the aging in Cognac barrels. The alcohol is well integrated and soft. For my taste a bit too light and soft and Cognac is not my thing either.
