Rest & Be Thankful Clarendon MDR 2012

Sipneat this drinks light and easy for a Jamaican — pear, tropical fruit, a little glue and young oak, with nutmeg and spice through the finish. Several tasters wished for more punch; the 46% leaves it feeling a touch watered-down. A few find funk and honey on the nose, then a rounder, simpler palate. Also fine in a mixer if you want a gentle Clarendon.

Light, fruity Jamaican that runs thin Most find it a pleasant, light Jamaican with real fruit and ester — but thin and low-powered for the style. A couple of tasters hit apple-vinegar and wood-polish notes they disliked.

Very nice discovery. Nice Jamaican notes. Nose with complexity and funk. Sweet and round attack, Abv a bit low to my taste, but nice nonetheless. Quite a long finish

Alcohol anything but well integrated. Tastes somehow only after wood polish and nutmeg with apple cider vinegar.... For me, a bitter disappointment.

Quite a nice Clarendon, which lacks a little of the percentages, otherwise a solid Jamaican. Ester and tropical fruit on the nose. Also esters and tropical fruits on the palate, also sticky and slightly watered down.

Quite tasty, actually. No ordinary Jamaican, something does not quite fit here. But okay :)

Based on the previous reviews, I would have expected something worse in the glass. But it's not that bad either. Thanks DomM for the sample. I think this rum needs a little more time in the glass, then it will be fine.

Works supprsingly well with the low ABV. Clearly noticeable (continental) Clarendon notes. Pleasant and enjoyable.

A young Clarendon with limited potential. The nose offers some tropical fruit, pear, a hint of esters, woody, spicy, vegetal and floral notes. A rather thin and soft profile, lacking character and depth. The palate follows the same pattern, adding a hint of young wood, nutmeg and sweetness. There's not much more to say, except that it's rather bland and the flavors seem a little unbalanced. The dilution also gives a slightly watery profile. The finish surprisingly persists tropical fruits, spices, young wood and esters. While it won't convince purists, it will be a good rum to introduce sensitive palates to the world of Jamaican rums.
