Excellent stuff - top notch bottling of the 94 REVs vintage imho. Delivers on dark, woody, herbal and fruity notes on the nose as well as on the palate. My only critic here is the relatively low proof, which manifests in a bit less power on the palate versus other bottlings.

Great cinema. Prune meets a full load of leather. Plus licorice and green tobacco notes, but also toasty wood and mineral notes that briefly remind the palate of the typical Versailles pencil shavings. In the finish, long-lasting, gentle bitterness from the leather, spice and wood flavors, which are given an almost aesthetic counterpoint by the dried fruit - because the often present heavy sweetness of the dried fruit flavors remains gallantly restrained here at first, before it takes its due space again in the finish. Even among the now numerous 1994 REVs a successful addition at the top of the spectrum.

REV-1994-Tasting on 12.10.2024 Here is my ranking (nose and palate impressions were each given a 50% weighting in the overall rating, in the event of a tie the length of the finish was decisive, as was the case with ranks 1-3, which were incredibly close together): 1ST RX12425 2ND RX121 3. RX11107 4. RX21851 5. RX12203 6. 11402 Attention, daily form should not be underestimated!

Insane release!!! Leather, plum, wood, and floral notes, very nicely balanced. For me, one of the better 1994 releases, although that vintage is generally insanely good and balanced.

Update: After a long time, finally back in the glass and added a photo. Still a knockout. For me, the tastiest of the three REVs tasted (tasted with Rum Cask and RA). It convinced the most throughout the entire breathing time in the glass as well as in the mouth. A wonderfully integrated aroma wrapped in a heavy sweetness. To be fair, the other two bottles had been open for much longer.

my new 94 Enmore REV reference! On the nose prune, tobacco, herbs. The relatively low ABV (compared to the RC and RA) is insb. on the palate not detrimental at all. A wonderfully balanced aroma with a long finish of prune and black tea.

In the round with the three TheRumCask bottlings and the Nobilis 94 REV as opponents. For me, the 27-year-old from TheRumCask is a shade ahead. Whining on a high level, of course this is also a great bottling but unfortunately also the most expensive.

Crosstasting 2025 – Guyana REV 1994 Jahrgang Nach zehn Verkostungen lässt sich sagen: Mit dem REV 1994 macht man nichts falsch. Der Jahrgang steht für durchgehend hohe Qualität und ist ein echtes Aushängeschild für Guyana Rum. Vielseitig, tief und charakterstark. Die Grundmarker (Pflaume, Leder, Lakritz, dunkle Schokolade und Schwarztee) finden sich in unterschiedlicher Ausprägung in allen Abfüllungen. Fazit: Der REV 1994 Jahrgang zeigt die Spannweite von Demerara-Rum: von cremig-süss über rauchig-röstig bis komplex-trocken. Trotz unterschiedlicher Handschriften der Abfüller bleibt der Kern klar erkennbar. Ein herausragendes Jahr, das viel Klasse beweist. Das Tasting war allerdings anspruchsvoll, da mit der Zeit die Röstaromen im Bouquet dominierten und ich Pausen einlegen musste, um die feinen Unterschiede wahrzunehmen. Distilia REV 1994 Auch hier das Profil eines alten Guyanas. Im Mund weniger Dicht als in der Nase. Der Abgang hält lange aber einigermassen dezent. Bleibt für mich aber hinter den Erwartungen.

A little comparison of two, 28yo REV... that will be nice 🥰. Here the first, from Distilia:Nose: totally round! Complex and intense. A real nose-pleaser. Strong spicy, dark and toasty aromas with lots of molasses and licorice, plus light maggi and dark, fragrant sandalwood. Alongside dried fruit, like apricot, plum and tart blackcurrant. Also neat polish and pencil shavings I find, as well as fine herbs. Just very good. 9.2Palate: deliciously complex and round. But also distinct but pleasantly bitter. Very woody-malty-roasty, cedary. Lots of tart molasses but with less licorice. Instead, again distinct and more pencil shavings. Some subtle dried plum and dried apricot. Instead, more burnt caramel and mocha. Also on the palate light herbs and cereals.In the finish remains the pleasantly bitter woodiness with molasses and plum. ABV also fits quite nicely. 9.2Super REV. Noble and expensive.

An impressive nose, both very woody with all kinds of wood and herbaceous, with prunes and a lovely freshness. Same thing on the palate, the solid wood is balanced by a fresh, herbaceous side. The prunes are less pronounced than on the nose. Incredible balance here. You can't get enough of it. The smoothness on the palate is remarkable. The finish is quite tannic, but the pleasant freshness persists right to the end.

Nose Bold, wood, roasted, light mint, dried fruit, light plum, light tobacco, light anise, spice, light orange. Palate Bold, wood, light roasted, faint smoke, oily, faint leather, light licorice, faint coffee, faint chocolate, light cherry, prunes, light mint. Finish Long, wood, light roasted, light caramel, light berries, dried fruit, faint coffee. Empty glass Vanilla, chocolate, faint herbs, light leather, light coffee, light orange.

REV tasting of the Franconian Tasting Gang November 2024: A total of five REVs from 1994 were poured, the three bottlings from The Rum Cask, the Nobilis and Distilia Greenheart. At 27 years old, the youngest TRC still delivers the best performance for me, with very nice dry fruit notes on the nose. Its slightly older brothers are a little less fruity, but more spicy and toasty. The Nobilis has the most herbal notes of the five. The Distilia is also beautifully fruity on the nose, but quite sweet and a little thin on the palate.

This rum brings deep complexity, carried by dark fruits, fine spices, and a pleasant woody note. It remains elegant and harmonious throughout, with a slightly oily texture that caresses the palate. That certain extra is clearly noticeable – a rum that fits perfectly into the dark season. A crackling campfire alongside it is just ideal. Tested just in time before the spring breakthrough. Thanks to Gunnar for the sample.

Very interesting rev profile compared to what I'm used to. Violet meets reduced cola, meets licorice, sea salt dark chocolate and molasses, as well as pencil shavings and light anise and coffee notes, as well as rotten wood and tobacco. Overall me too pencil...Not quite mine but still exciting!

Online tasting with Rum Explorer, Matt Pietrek and Mitch Wilson tonight! I feel like I'm tasting the wrong rum, I get dried fruits like raisin and dried fig, but for some reason I mainly have caramel and even a yeasty flavor. Not my favorite Versailles.

Der Rum durfte 1h atmen. Tolle, würzige Nase mit etwas Sauerkirsche und Trockenfrüchten. Am Gaumen wunderbar rund mit Aromen von Sauerkirsche, Holz, edlen Gewürzen, vielleicht etwas Cassis. Der Alkohol ist unglaublich gut eingebunden. Ein, zwei Tropfen Wasser sind nicht nötig, tun ihm aber gut. Die Aromen klingen im Abgang langsam ab und zurück bleiben leicht Tannine und Sauerkirsche. Wirklich ein toller Rum! Edit: Kleines REV Tasting. Alle verkosteten Rum haben bedingt durch das hohe Alter eine sehr dunkle Farbe. RX12203: 9.0 Nase: Trockenfrüchte, nicht zu trocken sondern eher fruchtig. Dazu leicht Liebstöckel und eine schöne schwere Würze. Gaumen: Etwas edles Holz, schöne Würze, Trockenfrüchte mit schwerer Süße. Im Abgang bleibt etwas Holz und Leder. Richtig schöner Tropfen. RX17202: 9.0 Nase: Etwas dezenter als der RX12203. Schwere Süße und Würze. Gaumen: Auch am Gaumen mehr Holz und Würze als bei RX12203, leicht bitter, die Tannine sind hier präsenter. Im Abgang tritt diese schöne holzig-würzige leichte Bitterkeit in den Vordergrund. Ganz am Ende finde ich etwas Kastanien. RX21851: 9.0 Nase: Wieder mehr Süße und Fruchtigkeit im Vergleich zu RX17202. Gaumen: Hier nur eine dezente Fruchtigkeit, die Tannine sind nun noch ausgeprägter, aber nicht störend. Ich finde leicht verbranntes Karamell. Im Abgang bleibt eine nicht unangenehme Bitterkeit und ganz am Ende edles Holz. RX25870: 9.1 Nase: Dezent. Leichte, schwere Süße. Gaumen: Wow, richtig voll und direkt präsent. Fruchtigkeit, Tannine, Würze, verbranntes Karamell, leichte Bitterkeit alles nebeneinander wahrnehmbar und alles sehr harmonisch. Einzig der Alkohol ist leicht präsenter als bei den andere TRC, aber nicht störend. Auch im Abgang sehr rund und ausgewogen. Der älteste TRC REV ist für mich auch der beste. RX12425: 9.1 Nase: Ziemlich rot-fruchtig, nicht zu trocken. Bisher die fruchtigste Nase. Gaumen: Wow, richtig tolles und volles Aroma. Rotfruchtigkeit, nicht zu trocken, dominiert. Tannine und eine leichte Bitterkeit. Schwarzer Tee und leicht verbranntes Karamell. Im Abgang ebenfalls sehr rund. Distilia Enmore REV 60.2% (no RX number) 9.1 Nase: Sehr rund mit Frucht und Gewü

Ach wie gut diese alten REVs doch sind ! Wahnsinns Nase mit Dörrpflaume, Karamell, Kräutern, Tabak, Leder, Cola und Schokolade. Schöne Würze mit Holz und nicht zu knapp tolle Noten von Lakritze. Ein tolles Geruchserlebnis. Am Gaumen wunderbar aromatisch und würzig. Tabak, dunkle Schokolade, Dörrpflaume, Lakritze, Trockenfrüchte und gebrannter Zucker mit einer dunklen, röstigen Note. Dann Kräuter, Bleistift und etwas blumiges. Sehr ausgewogen und harmonisch. Der lange Abgang weiß bei einer tollen Komplexität mit Würze, Tabak, Schokolade, Dörrpflaume, Lakritze und Kaffee zu überzeugen. Dann klingt er langsam mit Leder, Schwarztee, Bleistift und geröstetem Holz aus. Ich bin hellauf begeistert ! Danke an @Gunnar Böhme für das Sample 😀

What a treat! Really complex and still balanced. The alcohol is barely noticeable. With some 1994 REVs the wood, bitterness and herbal notes are a bit too intense for my liking. Not with this one, this is just excellent.

Ja wie fange ich an, wirklich ein hervorragender Tropfen. In der Nase Leder, Pflaume, Holz, Kräuter, Würzig und eine Cola Note. Am Gaumen dann richtig schön dunkel, Dörrpflaume, Holz, Tabak, eine leichte Bitterkeit, etwas röstiges und Bleistiftspähne. Einfach hervorragend! Exzellent!

Very tasty REV. Incredibly round and beautiful plum notes on the nose. I like the fruitiness and the pleasant sweetness. Nice herbal flavor and notes of extremely dark chocolate with dried fruit and leather. Could do with a bit more oomph, but very tasty.

Incroyable. Ce qui se fait de mieux dans la categorie vieux Versailles. Le coté pruneau confit mais avec une trame plus vegetale en complément qui apporte de la fraicheur. Le tout parfaitement equilibré et un alcool insoupconnable. Un veritable plaisir liquide!

Top REV. Wie schon so oft geschrieben, Tabak, Leder, Holz und Dörrpflaume. Schöne Würze und Bitterkeit. Für mich auch eine gewisse Schwarzteenote dabei. Gepaart mit den Fruchtaromen passt das alles sehr sehr gut zusammen. Abgang auch super.

Small REV tasting. Very tasty REV. Incredibly round and beautiful plum notes on the nose. I like the fruitiness and the polish. Nice herbal flavor and notes of extremely dark chocolate with dried fruit and leather. The finish is incredibly long.

An der Nase zunächst ein richtig schön intensives Aroma von Dörrpflaumen. Dann erinnert es mich an die leeren Zigarrenschachteln, die ich früher von meinem Onkel bekommen habe. Außerdem etwas süßliches, ein bisschen pflanzliches. Man denkt an ein Kolonialwarenhaus mit Tabak, Fässern. Wirklich toll und der Alkohol hält sich sehr zurück. Der Geschmack hält dann was die Nase verspricht. Kräftig, würzig, der Tabak scheint durch, sogar eine leichte Süße - soll allerdings keinen Zucker enthalten. Dazu eine kräftige Dosis Bleistift. Zum Abgang hin kamen noch überreife Früchte hinzu, das war unerwartet. Der Abgang an sich ist teilweise bitter, hat wieder die Tabaknoten und interessanterweise tropische Früchte, Richtung überreife Mango die sich lange halten. Gefällt mir sehr gut, von der Nase bis zum Abgang. Stets interessante Aromen, mit jedem Schluck entdeckt man etwas anderes. Der Alkohol ist unauffällig und bestens integriert. Ein Tropfen Wasser ins leere Glas erzeugt übrigens eine heftige Wolke Tabakduft... #18:250119

a bit fishy on the nose on a first impression 🐟seeweed, salt, wood, very herbal, not really fruity but quite complex, even more after resting a while in the glas. Now there are the dried fruits and as well the red fruits, dried cherries and goji berries. Complex as well on the palate, with the influence of the cask being more dominant over dried fruits, dark chocolate and burned caramel, orchestrated to a very harmonic rum. It doesn’t have to have a Velier badge on it.

Wow, what an intense heavy nose, a drought plum in a cola glass on a flower meadow with fine herbs in between. Could sniff it forever. Also in the mouth very intense, the drought plum pulls through to the end, in addition noble wood, spice and a fine sweet / bitter note. Absolutely class. Guyana is and remains my favorite. Thank you dür this wonderful gift. 😘😉

... Enmore - drive destilerka, nyni uz jen funkcni destilacni zarizeni. Patrne jedine drevene destilacni zarizeni na svete, ktere se tesi velke oblibe. Rumy Enmore totiz maji prichut popelu, kuze, tezkeho dreva, coz nadchne zejmena milovniky nakourenych whisky. A pokud tradicnim Guyanskym zpusobem prida vyrobce do rumu trochu melasy, mate v lahvi unikatni velmi vyrazny a tezky rum. Jeden z mych oblibenych.

Der Greenheart hat eigentlich alles was ein REV 1994 braucht. Auch nicht zu viele Süße wie die Rum Artesanal Abfüllung. Aber ab und an kommen auch Bleistiftnoten durch. Ich bin da kein großer Fan von.

Nächste blindverkostung. Brutales Trockenobstaroma an Nase und Gaumen. Holz, Nuss und leichte Röstung. Sehr viel Körper und ganz sicher laaaange tropisch gereift. Alkoholgehalt liegt vermutlich unter 60%….das könnte mehr sein. Auch leichte Süse ist dabei. Schönes Teil

Bardzo intensywny w zapachu, z aromatem lakieru, skóry, tytoniu, wędzonej śliwki, przejrzałych owoców tropikalnych - m. in. bananów; ciemnej czekolady, prażonych orzechów w miodzie, melasy i cukru demerara. W smaku równie intensywnie, z przyprawami korzennymi, mentolem, anyżem i lukrecją. Finish długi, zmieniający się od słodkich owoców tropikalnych przez kwaśną wiśnie po mentol i przyprawy.
