Most helpful positive review
For me, this is one of the strongest representatives from St. Lucia - even if it differs somewhat from the classic profile. The typical dirty Lucia notes are only subtly present here, which gives the rum an unexpectedly round, almost elegant appearance. Despite a slight deviation from the norm, it is absolutely convincing and has an independent character. Very successful!

31.01.2026 Retasting at the Warehouse Tasting at Nobilis. ------------ Now this one almost brought tears to my eyes. Wonderful rum with very good ABV integration. Well balanced and lightly fruity and warm/oily on the palate. It draws the most wonderful curtains in the glass and the empty glass is put of this world. They really found the right barrel here 😊

Amazing profile. Citrus fruits, fresh green notes, gentle minerality and olives, wood - really impressive. The only criticism in my eyes is the slightly too pronounced roasted aroma.

An incredible amount of wood and tannins. Very heavy, very oily and intense. Tobacco, black tea, incense sticks, almost perfumed, as well as candied fruit and ginger... Some cocoa, cinnamon and black pepper together with old leather couch and camphor. Extremely aromatic, thick, complex and gets more and more delicious the longer you spend with it, the more exciting it gets... Definitely one of the best really old st Lucias I've had to date!

After the two Versailles drunk tonight, I am not disoriented. The profile is not so far, even if the nose is much more fruity. We find in mouth the woody/bitter/empryeumatic side counterbalanced by herbal notes. Here we also find a rather floral note. It is very good.

Excellent bottling out of St. Lucia. A hint of dirt on the nose with lots of fruits (mango). Nicely balanced against floral notes. Elegant and balanced on the palate. Wood forwards with tea and cacoa notes. Very nice creamy mouthfeel.

In the Chairman's Crosstasting I found the nose not so exciting and relatively fresh/floral with some mint, citrus, spice and a little leather. On the palate, there was a nice combination of floral, spicy and fruity notes. For me, a rather atypical but exciting profile.

Without direct comparison, one of the best Lucias I have drunk. One still notices the beastliness and complexity of the legendary 1999 of Blackadder, but in a much more toned down and rounded form.

An outstanding rum from Saint Lucia. It has light floral and cocoa notes on the nose. Olive and chocolate are then added to the taste. It is simply incredibly complex and a lot of fun. It also stays warm for a long time in the aftertaste.

Top-notch rum that I probably wouldn't have guessed was from Saint Lucia if I tasted it blind. The flavor profile is consistent from nose to finish, thoroughly harmonious, and incredibly intense.

the nose reminds me a bit of Savanna HERRs / Grand Aromes with red fruits, vanillle, tobacco, fruit bread, leather. On the palate leather, tobacco, cocoa, barrel and floral notes. Very tasty! This is hard to top!

9,2:On the nose, minty, fresh, grassy, flowery molasses, barrel impact is obvious with roasted wood notes like toffee, roasted nuts, cocoa, pastry, spicy with vanilla, cinammon, some camphor and banana, pineapple, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, cinammon becomes allspice, round, creamy and balanced rum is like a fruit compote, tempting, as mango, red fruits arise, caramelized fruit cake joins, molasses is herbaceous. 9:On the palate, the attack is minty, grassy, flowery, perfumed, medicinal with camphor, varnish, quite intense, heavy, luckily fruity with fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, dairy hints, creamy, later citrus and dried fruits, molasses becomes more vegetal with briny olive, oily, fennel, tarragon hints, fresh with tea, earthy with tobacco, roasted wood notes bring another layer of balance with cocoa, mocha, roasted nuts, leather, spicy with allspice, vanilla. 9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with toasted oak notes like caramel, confectionery, dark chocolate, nuts, spicy with allspice, warm, smoky, medicinal and chemical with iodine, slightly sulphurous, fruity with tropical, dried, red and citrus fruits, some candied, molasses is vegetal with briny olive, grassy, flowery, earthy with tobacco..

That was great, the Saint Lucia Distillers are also among my favorite distilleries. Here we have a predominantly roasted rum, cocoa, chocolate, mocha and leather are recognizable, but also some wood and spice.

Today a wild blind tasting. 1: very light fruity. Reminds me of obstler. Sharp, alcoholic. Could be an unbalanced Australian or an extraordinary finish. 2: already a whole different league. Dark fruits, smooth and oily on the palate. Warm finish. Could be a long-aged Savanna. 3: heavy on the palate, woody dark-fruity, oily pleasant. An extremely interesting and powerful St. Lucia. The nose is the fruitiest aspect of this rum, offering tropical fruits, vanilla, wood, cocoa, and floral notes, along with a hint of mint. Toffee, cinnamon, cask notes, and herbs complement the bouquet. On the palate, it comes in very strong with 65%. Strong spice, tobacco, wood, leather, mint, cask notes, incense, and floral notes almost overwhelm me. Some dried fruit, mocha, chocolate, and grass expand the complexity and are again accompanied by a slight smokiness. The long, spicy finish is also multi-layered. Wood, tea, roasted notes, tobacco, and floral notes start it off. Candied, dried fruits, cask notes, olive, floral hints, and very faintly something fishy make the finish very entertaining. Considered a benchmark, this Nobilis from Saint Lucia is absolutely splendid. The nose is very lush with beautiful fresh tropical notes (pineapple, mango), floral and mentholated. The roasted wood, spices (chili, vanilla), and toffee/caramel are very soft and perfectly harmonize with medicinal aromas (notably varnish). The nose is very balanced, elegant, and deep, truly top-notch. The entry on the palate is very successful and can be mistaken for an old Versailles: herbal elements, a scent of flowers and cold tobacco accompanied by black tea and all kinds of spices (chili, vanilla, cinnamon, light licorice, and anise) tickle the palate. The woodiness is perfectly dosed with notes of dried fruits (prunes) and red fruits that offer a beautiful structure. Some smoky notes, leather, cocoa, and a hint of caramel also appear. The wide aromatic spectrum gives a deep, intense, and superbly balanced rum. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is long and delicate. It buzzes with notes of greenery, tea, medicinal herbs, tobacco, menthol, and spices. It is also warm, tannic but not astringent, remaining very elegant. Leather, cocoa, prunes, and exotic fruits complete a beautifully painted picture of Saint Lucia. A bottling worthy of its status as the island’s flagship, hats off.

Very complex nose and it's true, this Chairman is not the typical dirty potstill rum, as it is very floral. The nose convinces and is around 9/10, but the rum doesn't grab me with its extremely floral touch. Tobacco and smoke join in with slight fruitiness.

Am truly not a fan of rum from Saint Lucia, but this just blows me away! To smell and drink the is an extraordinary experience. This rum simply has everything (in a balanced ratio), what makes a rum.Blind tasted I would have held him for a very old, excellent Versailles.He was highly recommended to me, I highly recommend him to you. And it is indeed still on the initial market!

A bit less intense than the GotA/RumX selection, still strong with smoke and spice, wet wood, but a bit more round and delicate, with vanilla and caramel not being completely overshadowed. Both are great.

Nice profile in itself but I find the palate too brutal for my taste. A reduction would have been a good idea... Not sure which still was used but if it's the Vendôme, it lacks a bit of the funk that can be associated with it. There is also not the big indulgence of the other still. We are rather on roasted aromas pushed by a high alcohol level. Interesting but not up to my expectations.

31-01-2026 - Rate 9.1 Nobilis Warehouse Tasting #4 We are back at Nobilis to another warehouse tasting. Second time tasting this amazing St. Lucia rum. A nice revisit. Nose of mint, vanilla, wood and tropical fruits. Palate of wood, leather, mint and a hint of tobacco. Long finish dominated by wood, leather tobacco and tropical fruits.

Ain't that stated 22 yrs on the bottles?! Anyway.... Usually Saint-Lucia from a certain age are often too woody and the bitterness often spoils the wonderful fruitiness. It's not the case here! Of course there is some oakiness but it takes the form of nice tannins like in a well infused Assam tea and a slight astringency coming along. So you can enjoy the fruitiness to the fullness. Bonbon Arlequin and Quince jelly (the one my father use to make). Long final. One of my top 3 Saint-Lucia so far!

Beautiful shining light amber for the eye. The nose impression is a mix of floral and spicy notes. Plus some mint and caramel notes. Complex but for my taste also a bit alcoholic. The palate then an attack of spicy, woody, roasted aromas with leather, tobacco, and a delicious very slight bitterness. Very complex, radiates warmth and long in the finish. At the very end, an interesting herbal note comes through. The nose impression is not top-notch for me but the palate impression is mega.

Right from the nose it grabs you, the typical Saint Lucia markers with wood and dry red fruits, very delicate. On the palate it really kicks off, nice start, alcohol well integrated. Red fruits, furniture polish/beeswax, with a slight bitterness that never becomes too much. You can sip it forever. The finish lingers long, with the beeswax coming to the forefront. If you like 95-proof EMBs, you'll find familiar aromas here. Really a beautiful piece!

Today two rums from the St. Lucia top league, the Nobilis here and the RX1462 from Blackadder. The Blackadder is a bit more on the dirty side and I like it overall slightly better. But the Nobilis is also great.

Exciting to try a continental aged St.Lucia. And the profile is really quite different and pretty unique: lots of floral hints, especially jasmine tea, but also herbal spices and some wood. For me, the tropical aging just fits this base distillate much better, so I can't agree with the high ratings. Second tasting 28.08.25: Today I like the profile considerably better, although I still prefer the tropical aged brothers. +0.4 points

Bottle monster... no other words for this thing. Beautiful bottling! Starts strong and full of ripe fruits. Chocolate. A bit green. Esters. Explodes in the mouth with sour and sweet fruits with chocolate and very interesting flavors like roots, honey, light tropical notes. Not a rum for beginners but simply excellent with a finish that never ends.

Nose: Rosewater, lime, mango, pineapple, caramel, fennel seed, orange peel, spearmint Mouth: Cinnamon, menthol, rubber, eucalyptus, banana, mango, tamarind, olives, roasted almond, chocolate Finish: Strong flavour that slowly eases to a long finish An amazing drop. The aromas are a solid focus of citrus and floral. Then the palate is where the action truly begins. I'm hit with a strong rubbery note underlying this array of funky fruity flavours. As I explore further, more notes appear rendering this incredibly complex. It has a long creamy finish while the flavour hangs on for eons. A truly great rum from St Lucia.

Wow. This is some awesome stuff. Great nose with lots of fruit, honey, melon and floral aromas. Reminds me partly of a Savanna. But not as intense. But the gummy bear beeswax is there. On the palate then the explosion. Awesome mix of mint, herbs, fruits and this great warmth. Alcohol very well integrated. This is fun. It could actually be that this is one of the best St Lucia rums I've had in the glass so far. Awesome stuff. Unfortunately the split was full, so I have to buy a bottle just for me 😇🤗👍
