Bourbon-cask fans who like a Foursquare-style sipper will feel at home here. Several tasters blind-guessed Barbados: toasted oak, cocoa, coffee, vanilla and caramel with a streak of glue-like ester on top. It reads sweet without being sugary, and the cask does most of the talking — the light distillate adds little of its own. At 63.9% it comes in hot until it opens up.

8,5:On the nose, roasted wood notes like cocoa, nougat, popcorn, caramel, confectionery, burnt sugar, nuts, spicy vanilla, esters, polish and glue, citrus fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, tropical, dried fruits arise, coffee and baking spices, meaty undertones and hints of molasses with black tea. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is slightly dry and medicinal with esters, phenol hints, roasted oak with caramel, praline, chocolate, smoky, spicy with vanilla, a bit salty, the molasses is candied, earthy with tobacco, fresh with tea and flowery, as the fruits dried, citrus and tropical with coconut...Bourbon barrel impact is strong. 8,2:The finish is medium long, slightly dry and tannic, toasted, as notes from the palate continue their journey. The bourbon barrel is fully at work here with a hefty dose of glue on toasted wood, vanilla, caramel, and coconut. The distillate itself is very light and fits well into the barrel aromas without any notable character of its own. It tends towards the style of a Traveller without a heavily charred barrel or a Foursquare with little depth. A good rum, but nothing special.

Yes this is a really sweet Transcontinental Line. Chocolate and caramel, well, just about okay. Still quite okay, this rum, really too sweet, but apparently nobody really cares :)

I wouldn't have expected that from El Salvador. Very nicely balanced. Lots of sweetness and yet not sugary or anything. Then it gets spicier. Alcohol is well integrated and otherwise I have nothing to complain about. Nice.

Who would guess Salvador IB blinded tasting? I don’t.. was thinking about Barbados, Jamaica or Guayana… The color is quite light yellow..golden..simply not dark. The smell - interesting mixture of sweet, woody and sometimes esters- like nail polish or glue. The taste - intense, alcoholic, but after resting in a glass for a while, sweet cocoa or coffee and wood appears. For me personally I would prefer less % at about 45-50 with keeping the same taste - I would buy it again and again..

For my taste a very good Spanish rum. Classic notes of caramel, coconut and chocolate. Somehow also a nice glue note with vanilla. In the finish surprisingly spicy and nice barrel aromas.
