Rest & Be Thankful Long Pond LSO 1998
Light glue and a floral, almost green fruit nose set this apart — blind, more than one taster guessed Port Mourant, not a 23-year Long Pond. The palate turns oily with candied yellow fruit and roasted oak, but a firm astringency and bitterness catch up in the finish. Enough character to reward patience; it needs time in the glass to open.

Nase wenig, zurückhaltend, bissel Jamaika; Zunge würzig, wenig Frucht, leicht astringierend, bissel Holz, nach hinten raus leicht bitter, wie verkohlt, PLV zu teuer

I first notice the fresh and floral nose. Would I have blind rather assigned Port Mourant. I like it already very well. The floral does not reappear on the palate. Nevertheless, the rum remains rather like a very expressive Port Mourant. The long finish continues homogeneously. Only at the very end a few fruit esters flash up. Very good rum, atypical of Long Pond. Perfect for confusion in a blind tasting.

Slightly sticky, otherwise very flowery, herbal nose. Turns out a little flat towards the end and has an unpleasant acidity and bitterness.

Hätte ich blind nie auf Long pond getippt, Frucht fehlt geschmacklich total ist insgesamt nur bitter und verbrannt. Schade!
Review by Johannes
Very astringent, I lack fruitiness. I can not taste much of tropical maturation.
Review by mto75
On the nose yellow and green fruits and a good dose of oak barrel. On the palate, candied yellow fruits and toasty notes. Not super complex, but tasty sipper - but mE priced a bit too high.

Wenig Frucht. Dafür viel Säure und im Abgang leicht bitter mit Holznote.

Needs much time to open up. Overall not very exciting imho, unfortunately.

It was okay, but one of the lesser ones in the collector line-up at SDR.
