Berry Bros & Rudd Clarendon Jamaican Rum 2004

8.5/10
Rated by zabo, Rene Pfeiffer & 12 more

Sip it neat — at cask strength this Clarendon (Monymusk) wants a little air, not cola. Light in color for 17 years, with pineapple, mashed banana, funky esters and a whiff of solvent, plus brioche and marzipan on the palate. Several tasters call it elegant but on the simple side: very fruity, not very sweet, with a long warm finish.

How does Berry Bros & Rudd Clarendon Jamaican Rum 2004 taste?

Fruity, funky Jamaican that stays simple People mostly enjoy this as a clean, fruity Jamaican — pineapple and banana with gentle funk. The honest knock: it's a touch simple, and a couple feel the alcohol isn't fully tucked in.

Perfect for

Fans of bright, fruity Jamaican ester funk who like cask strength

Less suitable for

Anyone wanting deep complexity or a soft, low-proof sipper

Very fine on the nose, in the mouth I find it very funky. Alcohol m.M. very well integrated. I like it very much. Very fruity and round. Although a bit simple but he makes you want more.

#4661 17.03.2024 Sitting at home relaxing a bit with some TV series running on the telly 😊 Nose Intense, light wood, faint smoke, fruity, ester, orange, funky. Palate Light wood, faint roasted, fruity, light leather, light orange, light licorice, vegetal. Finish Very long and warm, fruits, light licorice, faint nutts, light wood. The empty glass has light chocolate notes.

A rather elegant Jamaican with a fat, mashed banana-like frame mixed with pineapple. Not bad at all. The nose is more discreet than the mouth. On the palate, it's fruity, but also pastry-like: brioche, pastries, almond paste. Very nice.

Tasted yesterday at the Finest Spirits at the booth of Berry Bros. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. For a long time again had a Monymusk in the glass. It captivates by its certain simplicity, but at the same time is a very round Jamaican. Of course, you can not expect anything too complex.Nevertheless, a real positive surprise.
