Two years in virgin oak and it drinks like something much older — that's the surprise most tasters land on. It pours thick, almost syrupy, with overripe tropical fruit, red berries, olive brine and a medicinal, fermented edge running through it. The virgin wood tames the wild Galion side without going bitter. At 58.5% the alcohol sits remarkably well integrated. Dense, unusual, and a lot of people want more of it.

What a cool drop. Thick molasses rum that drinks like syrup from the consistency. The palate is extremely complex and very special in its own way. The blueberry and strawberry I find very horny. The finish is no less complex. Meaty, bacony, smoky, licorice, medicinal. Very exciting profile. Especially for the two years of aging. Please more of it.

Impressive color for a 2 year old but of course we are dealing with virgin wood. This was a good choice to quickly mature this rum. As such this rum is a beast so some serious taming by using virgin wood was welcome. It rounds of the harsh side that Galion can have. Remarkable are the fruity notes here. It is a combination of creamy strawberry and tart or sour pineapple. The medicinal note that comes along with it makes it just not my cup of tea. It is a very good dense flavor bomb but for me the flavors just don’t come together as they should. I totally understand why this works for others though.

8,3:On the nose, esters and pungent overripe tropical, citrus and red fruits bump into our nosetrils, perhaps also plum and cheese, olive, slightly smoky with roasted wood and bacon. On aeration, crunchy bread and cream toffee join, some leather, herbaceous and flowery molasses, brine, pepper, vinegar and in the end, rubber. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is intense with overripe tropical and red fruits, smoky, roasted wood with confectionery, caramel, crème brûlée, spicy, slightly astringent, a lot of esters, medicinal, as the molasses brings vegetal notes, grassy, flowery and herbaceous. 8,4:The finish is long, dirty and coppery, smoky with roasted wood notes, bacon, meat, confectionery, spicy and fresh, grassy molasses, fruits like blackcurrant and grilled pineapple... This relatively short-aged Grand Arome from Gallion is a pleasant surprise. Its aromas are very unusual but very good. Tart fruit aromas dominate the nose, but in a pleasant way. On the palate, a strong sugar cane sweetness at the beginning, which then changes back into these tart fruit aromas. A stark contrast, but if you let yourself get into it, it works brilliantly. The finish remains on the fruity-sour side. I really like it

Finished bottle (T__T): totally won over by this bottle! I'm very interested in trying out other Galion aged rums! Bottle almost finished: it's become even rounder. For 2 years, I find it remarkable. It's not insanely complex, but it's very coherent. A very good bottle... 2nd tasting - after a quarter bottle Take some ripe exotic fruit Put them in a copper pan Add a large lump of butter and a little sugar Cook over a wood fire Flambé (with rum) Squeeze a small piece of lemon Now you can serve this superb Galion! 1st tasting it looks like fruit compote in a soda barrel.

Wow, great Le Galion. Somehow medicinal on the nose, fermented with tropical fruits. On the palate also nice tropical fruits, fermented and herbal. Also very herbal and lots of red fruits recognizable. Delicious.

Beautiful shiny mahogany color, creamy on the nose, with plums, lively wood, oriental spices, roasted/aged, sun-dried tomatoes, fermented, star anise, pepper, Taggiasca olives, vinegar and dates. On the palate roasted/meaty and aged, with aromas of dates, fermented tropical fruits, wood, pepper, raisins, sour cherry peel, star anise, blueberries, apples, Taggiasca olives and spices. In the finish, the sweet underlying note is more noticeable. In the empty glass, aged notes and tropical fruits. Very special rum, seems like a complex dish with many ingredients based on meat broth and fruit reduction. Great roundness and ABV perfectly integrated. Curious to know how it could become if aged for a long time.

15.06.2022 A nice day running through samples at home. Notes Medium to dark in colour. Nose Light wood, balanced, fresh, light olives, apple, light citrus, fruity. Palate Medium intense, oily, light wood, olive, light salty, apple, light tannins, spice, faint medicinal. Finish Medium to long, warm, light oily, olive, light citrus, spice, fruits. Extra note. A brilliant example of what you can do with short aging in virtin oak.

Not bad at all. Glue and dried fruit, behind which the wood comes through quite dominantly without becoming too bitter. Quite a dense aroma, drinks almost syrupy. Really not a bad rum for the price. For me, it goes a bit in the direction of Savanna.

The rum tastes as if it had an intense sherry finishing, although the result is a mix of high ester and virgin oak aging: sweet, almost syrupy, red and especially dark berry notes. Also hints of meaty notes, astringent. Not a rum for every day, personally too sweet for me. Interesting would be a longer aged example for comparison.

A big hit from daily drams. Syrupy consistency and the aroma and taste of jam make this piece something so typical that it can't be mistaken. Perfect fruity nose and taste, full of red fruits with a somewhat shorter finish.

A great aroma very satisfying for the price. It lacks complexity but given the age it sends watts and that's all we ask.

Very fresh and fruity on the nose with citrus, apricots, smoke, toffee and some vegetal notes. The first sip is agricole like, but let it rest and it turns into overripe fruit and marmalade. A complex rum and the price at release was very good.
