Sandalwood, cardamom and a caramel-sweet base run through this 24-year Bellevue, with overripe pineapple, licorice and light leather rounding it out. Several tasters were surprised by how much ester and tropical fruit shows up — one blind guessed a tropically-aged Jamaican. It needs to rest in the glass or the 54.4% takes over, but let it open and it turns creamy and layered.

Tasted together with the Milano Rum Festival Bellevue. As with the Milano, a very inviting and multi-layered nose with slightly berry notes of a Savanna HERR. On the palate, there are lots of heavy/roasted aromas and a slight bitterness. I like it a little bit better than the Milano, but it probably depends on your mood on the day. Both great bottlings! Tasted again together with the Milano. For me, both are on a par today. Really very tasty and multi-layered :)

Yeah, this one really knows how to please, very mild with super well-integrated alcohol. Otherwise, the nose is very similar to the palate. Tropical fruits are noticeable, otherwise still quite vegetal. We also get caramel and herbs.

16.06.2022 A nice day running through samples at home. Notes Medium to dark in colour. Nose Light wood, faint smoke, plum, fruity, spice, light tobacco, light ginger, cherry. Palate Oily, balanced, medium intense, light roasted wood, berries, light licorice, faint coconut, prunes. Finish Very long and warm, light wood, berries, spice, light licorice, oily, faint tar. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while or the ABV will take over. The change in the profile while resting is amazing to say the least.

Very delicious and unusually "sweet" 98 Bellevue. Intense notes of sandalwood, allspice, green cardamom, cinnamon, and demerara sugar. Slightly overripe and slightly tart pineapple and passion fruit. Alcohol is also very well integrated and the finish is very pleasant.

A magnificent ''Bellevue'' that takes the connoisseur on an ideally balanced aromatic journey from fine woody notes with a delicious, caramel-like sweetness to tropical fruits and knows how to delight both the nose and the palate. Great cinema!

Typical representative of the 98th Bellevue bottlings, which are quite predominantly on a high level: herbs, spices, some tobacco and leather. Price unfortunately exaggerated, for less money rather buy another 98iger bottling.

Nose: rather restrained, a little herbal, distant esters, not very alcoholic, could be anything - possibly a light Jamaican... Palate: hmm, difficult, tastes like column still, so probably not Jamaica. I also have herbs again, T.D.L? But overall too little intensity for T.D.L. I suspect a good Spanish rum. But I have practically no experience there! Alcohol about 55% Finish: surprisingly much wood and bitter notes, later herbs again. Resolution: RX12489 1998 Guadeloupe! At least this time I got the alcohol content right!

Would have blindly guessed a tropically matured Jamaican here, perhaps Great House or something. Lots of esters and fruit on the nose, unusual for a Bellevue. Similar on the palate, but less pronounced, with wood, spices and caramel also playing a part. Great, creamy mouthfeel, alcohol integration is top, really fun, even if it is clearly different from most Bellevues I know.

This Bellevue is rougher than expected. The nose is balanced and has nice sweetness and fruity notes. More barrel influence on the palate and the alcohol doesn't seem to be 100% integrated. I like it very much, but for a top Bellevue 1998, it could be a little creamier. I would like to taste it again to be sure it wasn't just an off day.

Absolutely fantastic Bellevue. Nose: elegant. Leather, sandal, eucalyptus, apple, roots, camphor, cardamon, raisins, plastic, some grapes & currants. Love it. Taste: pleasure balanced. Little bit sweetness. Symphony of Tastes: Again sandal wood, cardamon, baked apple, hay, roots, pencil shaving, marmalade, ginger, prunes & touch of esters. Fantastic! Aftertaste: looooong! Again sandal wood, cardamon, some polish & oak, roots, candies. Conclusion: omg, that's what I mean. Column Agricole need time ! Lot of time. It's only way, to create Masterpiece. Very good.
