Blind-taste this and you might call it a Cognac — several tasters do. It's a menthol-and-eucalyptus TDL, all fresh mint twigs, red fruit (blackcurrant, sour cherry), peach and a fine bitter oak underneath. Most find it beautifully balanced and long; a couple wanted a hair less wood, and one thought the body ran thin for a 19-year-old.

Heute gibts ein feines T.D.L Battle auf hohem Niveau. CDI 2003, 19yo bottles for 1802: Sehr erfrischend, mit viel Minze, Eukalyptus, hellen Früchten. Dazu Trauben und eine Frische holzig bittere Note. Schöner langer und warmer Abgang. Zweite Verkostung: -1 Punkt Romdeluxe 2009: Der ist ganz anders. Viel dunkelfruchtiger, viel mehr Röstaromen, dafür weniger Minze. Im Mund cremig mit kandierten Früchten. Toller Rum.

Rum or cognac? Could you say for sure in the blind tasting? I can't. Yes the TDL mint, along with ginger, cloves, citrus you can detect, but there is also the peach, grapey cognac flavors galore. Compared to the Caksus exclusive, the 1802 is brighter and fruitier and without the dark roasted aromas.The same picture in the mouth: mint and bright fruit - very cognacresque. My TDL Falernum to go with it. Actually tastes like a blend of the dirty 2001 and the fruity 2002s. Compared to the Caksus, the finish is much smoother and much less menthol-heavy, here the rösitge barrel does come out again and the alcohol remains perceptible, unfortunately. Very nice TDL.

This is a TDL exactly to my taste! Lovely mint, eucalyptus, spice and burnt sugar on the nose!The palate first develops a dark sweetness that is followed by wood, spice and something toasty, then follows something dirty until again eucalyptus and mint spread out. Finally, ripe sour cherry appears...The finish is medium long with fresh mint, eucalyptus and red berries!This TDL is top notch! 👍🏻

#6140 27.12.2025 Having a few more afternoon samples before my wife gets back home. Nose Fresh, light wood, faint roasted, apple, light mango, faint herbs, spice, light citrus, fruity, mint. Palate Oily, light wood, fruity, naturally sweet, apple, light medicinal, light peppery, olive, light salty, mint. Finish Long, light wood, fruity, light roasted, mint, mango, naturally sweet. Empty glass Mint, light floral, orange, light herbs.

A colorful T.D.L that highlights its mastery and balance. Menthol and eucalyptus hit the nose head-on with red fruits. Spices, tobacco, wood, and leather are present in the background. Yellow fruits (especially peach) appear late. A very harmonious, round, and balanced nose. The profile is as intense as it is varied on the palate. You perceive yellow and tropical fruits, notably passion fruit, but also peach, red fruits, and a hint of yuzu lemon. Menthol and eucalyptus stand out alongside the bitterness of leather, coffee, and cocoa. Spices and wood combine well and offer a very well-controlled overall harmony. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is long, very green and fresh, but red and exotic fruits are not far off. Bitterness persists alongside spices, tannins, and notes of black tea. A very successful selection, which stands out from the Excellence Rhum cuvée by a great structure, a beautiful aromatic balance, and an incredible smoothness on the palate.

Really very good TDL. Nice fresh mint and eucalyptus note, with passion fruit and black tea, lots of spices and strong wood notes and tannins. Very exciting and complex, me personally just a touch too much wood!

My first TDL 2003 and still one of my favorites. Tasted 3 years ago. I have a sample left that will allow me to recall the excellent memory I have of it. Distilled in April 2003, definitely the best month. 👃 Lots of freshness, mint, eucalyptus, red and black fruits (currants, blackcurrants), dried fruits from Cognac, a bit of dirt on burnt sugar, just right for a 2003. Peppery and rooty spices on ginger. 😋 Fruity freshness on a bowl of citrus and iced peaches accompanied by lively mint leaves. Bitterness of fresh lemon. You find an aspect of old Cognac grande and fine Champagne, very fresh, dried fruits, spices, soft caramel. ⛳ Always this peppermint, it's roasted on leather, light coffee. Black and red fruits express the wood tannins, on a black tea aspect. Alcohol integration is top, it's balanced and sufficiently intense.

Wonderfully balanced TDL with a present eucalyptus note, plus the fresh sweetness of tropical fruits, undefined berries, discreet wood, some toffee, leather and vanilla - an extremely expressive profile that knows how to convince absolutely thanks to its complex fruitiness paired with eucalyptus.

The nose seems a bit closed, driven by peaches, papaya and a bit of freshness, with caramel and wood to add a further level of complexity. In the mouth the freshness is much more evident, combines with peaches and tropical fruit to create a metallic bitterness. A bit of glue can be found in the end, but it's not disturbing at all. Balanced, but less explosive than other TDL.

One of the best TDLs I've ever tasted. Deep woodiness with notes of burnt sugar and sour red fruits dissipated by the notes of great TDLs of mentholated herbs. The bottle was perfectly aired so optimal tasting.

A very encouraging nose that immediately announces the delicious T.D.L markers, these red fruits as the main thread with a woody menthol and soft peach. A palate that confirms this nose, rather smooth and less sharp than a T.D.L EXCELLENCE RHUM, maybe because I'm tasting a sample from a half-empty bottle. It's really very good, round and intense.

Maybe one of the most beautiful TDL I've had the chance to taste! Incredible aroma! Eucalyptus, mint... notes of weed! Ultra fresh, it's incredibly good!!! A crazy disappointment not to have bought 5 bottles back then...

Wow, what a glorious nose of blackcurrant and fresh mint twigs. Some leather and wood. And than bam, fruit fruit and mint on the palate. Wowsers, might be the best 2003 tdl I had so far. Like a really good tea in the autumn
