West Indies Plantation Barbados 2007 (Extreme No. 5)
Sipped neat, this is a warm, coconut-and-vanilla Barbados pour with chocolate, dried fruit and a spicy oak edge. Several tasters compare the profile to Foursquare and call it very easy-drinking, but plenty feel the 58% sits unintegrated and the finish runs short. Pleasant, not the fireworks the "Extreme" name promises.
The community says- Coconut and vanilla
- Warm chocolate notes
- But: Alcohol not integrated

Review by TheRhumhoe

V chuti dominují dřevité a kořeněné tóny s výrazným vlivem sudu a dubu. Vanilka a čokoláda dodávají sladkou a teplou chuť, kterou osvěžuje náznak tropického ovoce. Tento rum nabízí komplexní zážitek s dlouhotrvajícím a vyváženým závěrem. If I had to choose one of the light Barbados profiles, I would probably prefer Foursquare and Mount Gay. This 2007 fits the profile very well. It's a light, rather Spanish-fruited profile with a light varnish: vanilla-caramel-yellow fruit-cashews.In the mouth, the profile is very similar, a bit more volatile and tropical, yet very light. Finish is equally delicate and except for a hint of the caramel creamy taffy quickly gone. This is a nice rum, but at the level I would expect from Plantation single casks.

Yet another of the new samples that I was very excited about. Usually the Extreme releases are pretty good and this one was no exception. The nose is very fruity with spices, honey and leather as well as a very light floral note. Once rested the bite from the alcohol is all but gone. The palate is warm and fruity with wood, spices and light chocolate. The finish is very long with wood, dried fruit, spices and light chocolate. Leave the empty glass and try to nose it after a few hours to get even stronger flavours. I left the glass for the next day and it still had the most amazing flavours.

Chuť a závěr Při ochutnání pocítíte jemnou, avšak intenzivní sladkost karamelizovaných banánů, exotického koření a nádech tmavé čokolády.

Nose goes after opening the coconut clearly in the direction of baking, is yes soon Christmas there one looks forward to cinnamon

Very different from the 2000 release of the series: Very much on the side of sweet rums full of vanilla, toffee, latte and coconut. Some smoke, wood, also tropical fruits in the background - extremely drinkable, but unfortunately not exceptionally complex. The profile is comparable to Foursquare, Travellers

But where is the extreme? A very light nose of vanilla and dried fruit. The palate confirms the lightness and lack of intensity. Flat and not very interesting. Slightly spicy finish, alcohol not very well integrated. Very short finish. Very disappointing. Frankly, at this price, you should offer another product! 65 for poor value for money. It's worth 60-70, not a cent more.

Leuchtendes Gold.

A very subtle nose with fleeting aromas of citrus and apricot, accompanied with praline and wood.On the palate, first a honey sweetness, followed by mocha, wood and allspice... this also continues in the relatively short finish! A good, but not outstanding Barbados!Tasted again yesterday, my first impression was confirmed

Sehr schwaches Profil.

Vůně jemná, ovocná s nádechem dřeva a leštěnky. V chuti potom hlavně sladké tóny čokolády, koření a maličko ovoce. Avb příjemné a závěr velmi kamarádský.
Review by mto75
the weakest of the three Extremes No. 5, but priced just another league (130 EUR issue price). Distilled at the Franklin (column) and Gregg (pot still) farms. For the typical Rockley style, the Vulcan (hybrid still) distillation process is missing.

Review by Benoit Mahe
A not very expressive nose which, despite a long opening, remains on the dark woody and vanilla and coconut. The mouth is lively. We find coconut and a slightly bitter woody taste. The finish is a little more greedy.

Tasted at the Whisky & Rum festival, 27. oct. 2023. Brilliant atmosphere to taste this. In the nose it's powerful and spicy. It gave away hints of lemon and tobacco, and in the notes I found coconut and vanilla
Review by RumTaTa
Second tasting: first impression confirmed, overall impression really weak for the "Extreme" series (-2)Nose: light, volatile and alcoholic. Slightly bitter on the palate, short finish. For a "Plantation Extreme" m.n. not very expressive.

Fruit basket from the leather bag in which the chocolate melts in the sun. A thoroughly appealing blend. However, a certain alcoholic spiciness is unfortunately noticeable at the back.
Review by Jarek
Review by Mentalo
Vanille, Kokosnuss, etwas Holz. Eher flaches, unspektakuläres Profil. Hätte auch Foursquare sein können.
