"Not your typical Fiji," as one taster puts it — and that's the whole story here. Blind, most members guess Barbados or Foursquare: toffee, chocolate, vanilla and a light natural sweetness, with only a whisper of solvent hinting at Fiji. The 61.1% sits surprisingly well-integrated. Round and pleasant, but linear and thin for the proof, with almost no ester to speak of.

This is not your typical Fiji rum but a very nice sidestep. Really well balanced and with natural sweetness, fruit and lovely toffee. I can see why they chose this cask because of the balance and the uniqueness of flavours.

Unfortunately, no recognition value whatsoever. Not bad, but not good either. I wouldn't miss it unbottled. Kind of a shame, but that's the way it is sometimes - even with a rum bottled by Nobilis. Update 2024-02-01 - Blind tasting, 6th rum Nose: brrrrr, what's that? A simply knitted Foursquare? Palate: just unpleasant, fizzy, yet flat; nope, FS can't be that, I don't like them but because they're boring, but not as pungent as this rum. No idea what that is. Solution: Phew, the Fiji from Nobilis, which I've even had in a glass before. But the rum can't keep up the 76 points I gave it back then: I only give it 60 points. Sorry, Nobilis, mistake. 🤷🏽♂️

Maybe it's because of the IdR South Pacific 2001 tasted just before, but the Nobilis doesn't cause enthusiasm. Quite round on nose and palate, with chocolate and roasted aromas, but I would have wished for a bit more pep.

What is going on with the 2004 vintage from South Pacific? Doesn't taste typical Fiji at all, rather boring, even though it's one of the better 2004s. Blind, I would have guessed Foursquare!

A light representative from the South Pacific distillery, appropriate for its vintage, which still pleases the nose with lots of sweet aromas of toffee and pastries as well as fresh aromas of tropical fruits. The same aromas are found on the palate, but accompanied by fiery spices, wood, and an undeniable presence of alcohol. A complex rum that suffers a bit from the too biting sharpness on the palate. Thanks to the aromatic complexity, still barely within the very good range.

Hmm, where are the esters? Not very typical nose for Fiji. On the palate round and spicy with slight sweetness, but also quite strong alcoholic. The transition to the finish is dominated by wood and coffee and fades quite quickly.Good rum but I expected more.

Oh yes, a rum just to my taste. A nice, slightly sweet caramel and chocolate note. You hardly taste the alcohol, perfectly integrated in this rum. A non-rum lover would never think we have over 60% here :)

Again, no Fiji here. More in the direction of Foursquare. On the palate it's too sharp for me but overall I like the rum quite well. The question is why should I buy a Fiji rum that actually has Barbados characteristics instead of just buying one from Barbados. Still a fine rum.

Relatively round profile for a Fiji with toffee and chocolate. Has compared to the SBS representative some percent less and these are well integrated so it can also enjoy more relaxed. Overall, I feel with this rum but more on Barbados which in itself means nothing bad.

Tried as a 5cl sample. I would never have guessed Fiji blind. No trace of esters on the palate, only minimal on the nose in the form of solvent and banana. All in all an atypical Fiji representative, which is good but by no means outstanding. Alcohol is well integrated but definitely lacks complexity. For 61.1% also a very thin mouthfeel. I would have rather placed it in the St. Lucia corner. Will definitely try again on another day. Maybe it’s just my condition that day. Edit: Apparently it’s not my condition. After tasting 2 and research it turns out that the 2004 South Pacific is just a bad vintage. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a solid rum, but not what Fiji can/do well.

Nez qui donne l impression d être presque sur un Belize, voir plutôt un Salvador. De la vanille, de la coco, quelques épices et un léger solvant. La bouche confirme le nez, avec un peu de cuir et une amertume boisée. La finale est moyenne. C est bon, mais très linéaire. Je m attendais à bien plus. Dommage.

Auch dieser Rum war Bestandteil eines Blindtastings. Auf Fiji kam niemand, er hat keine Ester und wirkte sehr sprittig und nicht wirklich Rund und eher flach. Die Geschmacknoten sind nach wenigen Sekunden wieder verflogen. Ich muss sagen das ich sehr enttäuscht war. Würzig, Alkoholisch, leichte Süße, Röstig, Schokolade
