9,1:On the nose, tar, some menthol hints, then rubber, toasted or maybe charred wood notes like nuts, caramelized, allspice, molasses with sweet honey, tons of fruits, untypcal Caroni, with tropical:mango, papaya, dried with apricots and raisins, citrus, some yellow fruits with peaches, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is minty, floral, herbaceous, fruits fermented, pineapple and banana arise, sugarcane hints, confectionery, leather and vanilla.It seems, that Caroni got some TDL help. 9,1:On the palate, the attack is slightly medicinal, industrial, dirty with rubber, tar, varnish, hints of menthol, sweet with molasses honey, flowery, minty, vegetal with fennel, very fruity with fermented fruits like pineapple, mango, citrus with mandarine and hints of green fruits, as the oak is roasted with nuts, leather, caramelized, spicy with vanilla, allspice, all very balanced. 9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, slightly dirty with typical Caroni markers, charred oak, spicy, meaty, warm and citrus, tropical fruits, earthy molasses, dark with black tea. 16.06.2022 A nice day running through samples at home. Thanks to Peter for giving me a sample from this small cute bottle. Notes Medium dark to dark in colour. Nose Intense, wood, light roasted, light tar, light polish, light earthy, dried fruit. Palate Oily, wood, light roasted, light tar, medium dry, medium spicy, light cherry, caramel. Finish Medium to long, balanced, medium spicy, oily, lightly dry, fruits, light roasted wood. Estra note. Needs to rest in order to open up properly. ABV integration is very good.

Very nice in the nose. The typical dirty 97 notes are very well balanced with some sweetness (honey) and some fruity notes. Much more complexity versus some more straight forward dirty 97 bottlings. Same holds true on the palate. A subtile sweetness is perfectly enhancing dirty notes. High intensity and a very good Caroni from 1997 indeed.

Giving the same rating as for the 70cl version. A great continental 97 Caroni with lots of tar, but also enough sweetness. Perfect age at 18 years. In my opinion, it shouldn’t stay in the cask any longer.

Nice Caroni with extreme leather. The Leatherface among the Caronis. Otherwise typical Caroni notes, roasted, tar, cask... dirty (but still within limits)... I like it a lot. I'd love to have a bottle (who sells??)

A few drops of water almost make it even better. Very intense and dirty, but also a very unique profile. Not comparable with other Caroni. But I think it's great
