One taster said he "could nose this rum for hours" — and that captures it. This 1994 Enmore (MER mark, wooden pot still) leans on pencil shavings, dried dates, roasted coffee, dark chocolate and leather, with plum and a little dried orange underneath. At 51.8% the palate stays full and rounded, wood present but not crushing. A proper old Demerara for people who already love the style.

Note: Employment at Perola GmbH (spirits industry), partial professional involvement with evaluated bottlings. All reviews are my personal, unpaid opinion. Definitely on par with the predecessor 94er REV from Bellamys. Taste-wise a bit more cassis, more burnt caramel, dark chocolate and rosemary/lavender, as well as dried fig and grapefruit peels. Also very tasty but really hard to say which I like better! This one is a bit more intense and has a longer finish due to the higher %, whereas the other is a bit more complex if you let it be and has the nicer nose. Both on the same level!

Less intense nose than the predecessor. On the palate, the higher ABV does it a lot of good. Relatively little herbs and licorice for a REV - I like it!

Crosstasting 2025 – Guyana REV 1994 Vintage After ten tastings, it can be said: You can't go wrong with the REV 1994. The vintage stands for consistently high quality and is a real flagship for Guyana rum. Versatile, deep, and full of character. The basic markers (plum, leather, licorice, dark chocolate, and black tea) appear in varying degrees in all bottlings. Conclusion: The REV 1994 vintage shows the range of Demerara rum: from creamy-sweet to smoky-roasty to complex-dry. Despite the different signatures of the bottlers, the core remains clearly recognizable. An outstanding year that shows a lot of class. The tasting was demanding, though, as over time the roasted aromas dominated the bouquet and I had to take breaks to perceive the subtle differences. Bellamy’s MER REV 1994 More caramel, plum, and smoke upfront. Elegant, spicy, with a hint of eucalyptus. Surprisingly fruity and tropical on the palate, the roasted notes stay discreet in the background. A fine, well-balanced rum with noble depth.

A nose to fall in love with: dark fruity, spicy and woody-roasty. First I get pencil lead and pencil shavings. Then a pleasant vinegar note with fine orange aroma. Slightly sour, dried currant, cola. Very full-bodied with a hint of chocolate. On the palate wonderfully full-bodied and complex. Spicy, roasty and woody. Also a bit of pencil shavings at the start, then dark malty, chocolate-cocoa with some anise and nutmeg. Dried orange and dried plum meet brioche. Leather and tobacco at the back. Remains pleasantly woody-roasty-spicy on the finish. A great, old Enmore. For me, as a Demerara fan, a true delight.

For me not the strongest 94 Enmore! In my opinion, the wood notes predominate and suppress the other flavors that can be perceived behavior!

On the nose, lots of roasted and spicy notes, as well as dried plum and pencil shavings. I like it very much. On the palate, exactly what you would expect from a 94 REV. All in all, I like it very much!

On the nose, the rum comes so sweet-nosed and without any deterrent Alk appearance that children would drink it without hesitation - so be careful when children are around! 😉 I smell not only permanently dark red fruits, also like pickled in syrup (papaya), but in the meantime also dry coal dust. The latter impression solidifies on the palate: I taste concise pencil shavings (yet this is not PM! 😳)! Exciting, but unfortunately somewhat at the expense of the deep dark red fruitiness and the malt impression of the nose.Will only say that this rum is with me nose winner - and what a!Briefly a word to the one year younger REV brother: The is similar, but because of the lower ABV expectedly thinner and weaker on the chest.

The two 94 Enmores from Bellamy's Reserve in direct comparison (thanks Gunnar for the cool split) Both are very fine and testify to good cask selection. 10530 with the lower revolutions is quicker on the nose and also smells a little more buttery at the beginning. On the palate, however, it lacks a little power behind the flavor. RX12549 takes longer on the nose but is more present on the palate. I think 12549 is just ahead after 30 minutes.

Cracked open the next 3 from my present. This is a really nice complex and well balanced rum from the famous Enmore still. Near perfect between roasted wood and the other elements. Price to quality is really good.

This REV hits my sweet spot. It was an immense pleasure to smell and taste this Demerara and every time I sample such an exquisite rum I tell myself that Demerara rums are probably what I like the most along with the better Caronis. As is often the case with a great Demerara I could nose this rum for hours. Roasted, chocolate, leather, toffee, woody, delicate spices and extremely round. I get the same in the mouth, add some dried fruit and coffee and the result is a top bottling. I think that I’m in love. 😅

joins the ranks of the great 94 REVs seamlessly. A similar profile to the RC Ed 22, with neat dried date, butterscotch and chocolate on the nose, perhaps a touch sweeter than the RC (without the direct comparison). The palate similar, but with more old barrel, mocha and leather, providing a pleasant counterpoint to the sweeter notes.

Awesome REV! Typical herbal note, but not too strong, fits well into the profile of the cask. Not the absolute REV peak, but still a great rum at top level! Actually missing the comparison with its brother!

At the nose initially, spicy, roasted, coffee, chocolate, dried fruits, very complex. On the palate then very full-bodied, intense, dried fruits (towards raisin), tobacco, roasted aromas, and coffee.

On the palate wonderfully full-bodied and complex. Spicy, roasted, and woody. Pencil shavings at first, then dark malty, chocolatey-cocoa with a bit of anise and nutmeg. Dried oranges and dried plums meet brioche. Leather and malt at the back. A great Enmore. Nice finish.

... Enmore - drive distillery, now just a functional distillation device. Probably the only wooden distillation device in the world that enjoys great popularity. Enmore rums have flavors of ash, leather, heavy wood, which especially excites lovers of smoky whiskies. And if the producer adds a bit of molasses to the rum in the traditional Guyanese way, you have a unique, very strong and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favorites.

Dark, roasted and woody profile. Still, a pleasant sweetness of brown caramel or burnt sugar. On the palate also fruit, not quite the plum I expected, more like dark berries. Very tasty stuff.
