CDI Savanna Reunion 2011
Pour this one and walk away — neat, it needs a good hour in the glass before the harsh alcohol settles. Once it does, expect apple, mirabelle plum and young wood, with a marzipan edge and faint anise. Even a few patient tasters found it surprisingly hard to spot as a Savanna, leaning closer to a plum-brandy-finished pour than classic island funk.
- Orchard fruit
- Marzipan note
- Long airing rewards

How does CDI Savanna Reunion 2011 taste?
Aggregated from 13 community reviews.
Hot cask-strength Reunion, needs long airing Splits the room. The hot, poorly knit alcohol frustrated several members, and many missed the usual Savanna character — though the cedar and orchard fruit reward real patience.

Needs a lot of time to calm down. Without significant time in the glas, its hot/harsh, hard to nose anything else. But after 1 hour the burn disappears and you get: Nose: apple, a bit of spice & sweetness. Taste: Apple, spices, hints of eucalyptus, floral notes Finish: Medium/Long Because of the need for significant time in the glas several points are deducted.

Alcohol not well integrated. Not much to pick up flavor-wise either. Hardly classic Savanna character.

Mmh a bit strange Savanna... I wouldn't have thought of it blind. Tastes more like a Foursquare with a mirabelle plum brandy finish. Alcohol not well integrated... generally very rough, especially on the nose. A little more complexity on the palate but not outstanding either... Some apple and mirabelle plums plus some young wood ... then a lot of bitterness and dark chocolate. For me personally this is nothing... Thank God I only have a sampler 😅

No idea what went wrong here but this is for a Savanna a bitter disappointment. From Savanna I taste and smell here even after just under an hour let breathe nothing and the alcohol is really not well integrated. Especially the nose is just really pungent alcoholic sharp.... Too bad! At least some Savanna character comes through in the finish but only if you know it. In blind tasting, the save would fail.
