Noch mal so ein alter, schöner Rum. NY finde ich sowieso schon gut und dann noch 24 von 27 Jahren tropisch… das Ganze mit heftigen knapp 68%… klingt verdankt gut. Nase: Ohlala, kräftig und intensiv, schön dichte Aromen. Über die 68% lässt sich gut hinweg schnüffeln. Dann findet man volle Würze, eine holzig-röstige Basis und viel gesetzte Frucht mit cremiger Süße. Ich finde schwarze Johannisbeere, Kirsche, reife Brombeere, dazu süße Zitrone und alte Blutorange mit mehliger Papaya. Dazu Karamell-Sahne Toffee und Vollmilchschokolade mit Vanille. Hinten staubiges, altes Holz. Wird mit der Zeit immer schöner und runder. 92 Gaumen: intensiv und kräftig. Deutlich adstringent und damit auch bitter-salzig zu Beginn. Wirkt dunkel-röstig und fast etwas metallisch. Daneben aber auch fruchtig mit Zitronenschale und säuerlicher Johannisbeere. Leicht verbrannt und getoastet und dazu passend, geröstete Nüsse. Dieser leicht bittere Ton zusammen mit Zitronenschale ziehen sich auch in den Abgang. Im Gegensatz zur Nase am Gaumen mir etwas zu wenig fruchtig und harsch. 86 Toller alter NY, bei dem die lange tropische Reifung und der hohe ABV den Gaumen ordentlich fordern.

heute zwei altehrwürdige Vertreter ihres Fachs: der Excellence Rhum NY 94 im Vergleich mit dem FRC Bottle Shop NY 94. Beide 27/28 Jahre im Fass verbracht, beide davon 24 in tropischen Gefilden, beide 67,8% ABV. Deshalb auch nicht verwunderlich, dass beide an der Nase zunächst sehr ähnlich sind, mit ordentlich Kokosnuss, Vanille und Fass. Der ER geht vielleicht noch etwas mehr in Richtung Anis, Politur und Kuchen. Beim FRC geht die Tendenz mehr in Richtung tropische Früchte (Papaya), Marzipan und Orangeat. Am Gaumen kann ich kaum Unterschiede ausmachen. Der hohe ABV ist bei beiden gleichermaßen gut eingebunden ist. Unterm Strich für mich beide auf derselben Stufe.

Wirklich beeindruckend, wie gut die knapp 68% Alkoholgehalt hier integriert sind. Wie nicht anders zu erwarten war, sorgt das zwar für einen ordentlichen Druck auf die Geschmacksknospen, aber dennoch brennt und zwickt absolut nichts im Mundraum. Man könnte dem Rum zwar ankreiden, dass er die Noten des Geruchs im Mund und beim Abgang konsequent weiterführt, ohne für eine Überraschung zu sorgen. Aber wieso sollte man das schon machen, wenn das gelieferte Aromenpaket so köstlich ist?

Holymoly und muchas gracias. Fantastico, die Zunge und das Herz hüpfen vor Freude. Trotz hohem ABV ein rundes, gut eingebundenes Prozentefestival mit einem Körper wie Schwarzenegger in seinen besten Zeiten. Komplexe Aromen wie eine südeuropäische Markthalle! Nutty, leichte süsse und noten von dunkler schokolade. Ach egal eigentlich. Es ist mega! Vielen Dank an die Mädels die aus Zuckerrohr und Feuer derartige Higlights kreieren! Ich werfe euch mein Herz zu!

I first became aware of this great rum at the Village (Pueblo del Ron) 2023 in Nuremberg. Since then it has stayed with me, which is no wonder given its 24 years of tropical maturation. Today I was finally able to try the rum again - a real highlight for Boxing Day! Heavily fruity and spicy at the same time, but the alcohol is perfectly integrated, a real treat. Unfortunately, I need a whole bottle of this 😉.

Typisches 94er New Yarmouth Profil. Getrocknete Früchte, massig Kokosnuss, Karamell, Nougat und entsprechend dem Alter Holz und Gewürze. Tolles Mundgefühl und Mega-Gewürzbasar. Die nahezu 70% sind toll eingebunden, überlagert ist er auch nicht. Einer meiner Lieblings-Vintages, er reiht sich hier im oberen Mittelfeld ein und ist dabei immer noch ein phantastischer Rum. 😀😀 Dank nach Bonn!🇩🇪

Un nez massif, avec une énorme huile de noix de coco, des fruits, un léger solvant...ça donne envie ! La bouche est intense, toujours sur cette coco grillée, de la vanille, du chocolat au lait, un beau boisé, des épices et du fruit. Belle finale qui donne envie d y replonger de suite. Rhum dangereusement bon ! Ah ces New Yarmouth 94 sont vraiment addictifs !

Heute ein Tasting mit sieben Abfüllungen des 1994 New Yarmouth: Thompson Brothers, Royal Cane, Kill Devil, Rum Sponge, Ron Artesanal, FRC Bottles Shop und Maolt, Grain & Cane. Der FRC Bottle Shop ist eher auf würzigen und holzigen Seite, weniger fruchtig. Trotzdem sehr lecker.

This is a very good release. Very fresh yet intense on the nose and palate. Wood and the other elements are very well balanced and the ABV perfectly integrated. If you get the chance you should give this one a try and if you like Jamaican rum and see a bottle, BUY IT!

Benötigt viel Zeit um sich zu öffnen. An der Nase geröstete Nüsse, Vanille, Karamell, Gewürze, Holz und süßes Popcorn. Insgesamt ein rundes 94er NY-Profil mit gut integriertem Alk. und mehr würzigen/holzigen Noten und etwas weniger Frucht.

In der Nase bringt dieser NY94 schön röstige Noten und einen tollen Mix aus Früchten, Eiche, Karamell mit Gewürzen und Politur. Geröstete Nüsse und etwas Minze mit dabei. Ganz lecker. Würde sagen so im Mittelfeld dieses tollen Vintage.

Very round and intense! 😍 For me the best of the 94 NYs that have over 60%! Really cool stuff! Lots of coconut, roasted almond and caramel with some mint and roasted flavors in the finish. I definitely have to try it in May tai.

Strong NY94. Very warming. Otherwise the usual vanilla, wood, milk chocolate spectacle that one is used to from this vintage. Great realization, but also no high-flyer of this extremely consistent Marks.

Der Rum schmeckt sehr holzig und würzig, was aber durch die Fruchtigkeit wieder ausgeglichen wird. Mit Wasser wird er etwas cremiger und es kommen Schokoladennoten hinzu, die lange im Abgang präsent sind.

Wie bei den meisten NY94 spielt die Musik im Abgang. Bei diesem ist mir der Mund zu eindimensional holzig. Die Nase ist jedoch sehr einladend.
