Cross Tastinge across 12 bottlings of 1990 Versialles destilled Enmores. As the youngest by far also coming with the highest ABV, the Cadenhead‘s is a different beast versus the 20y+ bottlings surely. But what a beast this is! Nose is intense with classic Versailles markers, cream brûlée and some grainy notes. This is significantly more engaging and exciting compared to any later destilled rather young VSG bottling I tried so far. Same goes for the palate. Creamy in texture with a fruity sweetness as well as herbs and the pencil shavings. I very positively surprise. Only downside: alcohol integration isn’t terrible but still far from perfect.

The typical pencil notes are very prominent here, surrounded by a pleasant sweetness. Not particularly complex, but all the more intense in the aromas of its simplicity. Very tasty. Almost an easy sipper with over 75% xD A very special rum, thanks Alex.

The alcohol is - as expected - very intense. Nevertheless, it works very well with such an expressive profile as Versailles, both the archetypal minerality from the pencil notes and vegetal aromas as well as licorice and bitter spices are recognizable in the spectrum; extremely fascinating what happens in the glass after ten years of aging and at this bottling strength. Impressive.

28.09.2002 Whiskymessen.dk in Kolding. Went with a few friends an some nice bottles to enjoy besides those at the venue. Notes. Very light in colour. Nose: wood, licorice, plum, raisin, caramel. Palate: Intense, warm, spicy, wood, roasted, raisin, plum. Finish: very long, spicy, wood, roasted, chocolate, raisin.

Great Enmore with super integrated alcohol. On the nose very dark and roasty, also some wood or barrel detectable. On the palate pencil shavings all around. But it remains very dark and roasty. Top rum.

An absolute beast from Cadenheads! Guyana Versailles VSG, just how I like it. Pencil with a solid lead and punch! At 75.7%, it brings the right power without overdoing it. For its young 10 years, it already feels very mature. I like it a lot!
