I actually like this rum. Lots of wood, toffe, vanilla, some sweetness that hides behind the wood... Recently opened another bottle I have in stock with my old friends - that alone if worth a few points extra!

01.06.2026 Retasting and I still like it. -------- 07.03.2019 Enjoying some samples at home. Colour Very dark in colour. Nose Light, wood, spice, light orange, light caramel, faint smoke, light chocolate. Palate Round, light, wood, spice, faint smoke, light orange, light citrus, light chocolate. Finish Medium long, wood, light chocolate, dried fruit, light citrus, caramel.

Blind tasting: a light, typically Spanish nose: lots of caramel/toffee, vanilla, leather and a slight sweetness just jumps out at you. With a little water a bit of smoke appears and wood influences become clearly recognizable. On the palate the sweetness from the nose is immediately present and again Spain, Spain, Spain with about 55-56%. The alcohol is a bit sharp, but with standing time or a few drops of water much more drinkable. The finish is longer than expected from a Spaniard. With a few drops of water I actually find the rum quite pleasant as a sipper in the evening with a few friends as company, quite okay. Venezuela is almost certain for me here and I could well imagine the Kintra The Rum Collection C.A.C.D. Venezuela 13yo 2004 with 53.8%. 78 points.
