Sampled at UK rumfest 2024
A blend of Guyana and Barbados bottled by the Ricci Family. The nose is rather timid, more Foursquare-oriented, with light spicy, pastry notes and a touch of solvents. On the palate, it's aggressive, quite strong and the alcohol is poorly integrated. Apart from spicy, roasted notes, caramel and a hint of chocolate, there's not much to take from it. The finish is persistent, very sketchy, wedged on spices and a few woody, sweet notes. You have to play hide-and-seek with the aromas, and it's hard to get anything positive out of it. A terribly bland and unbalanced rum, which becomes almost unpleasant.
Auto-translated#4942 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Medium intense, light wood, faint chocolate, spice, faint leather, light pineapple, faint caramel. Palate Warm, light wood, faint roasted, light chocolate, medium spicy, medium intense, faint caramel, faint banana, light raisin. Finish Long and warm, light wood, fruits, light pineapple, light caramel, faint chocolate.
Unfortunately there are no more precise details. Diamond (2004?!) clearly dominates with the typical intense malty note. I can only guess at Barbados.
