Heavenly nose! Pineapple, marzipan, ester funk and great depth. Everything you'd expect from a Hampden - perfectly packed together. Then on the palate, an unearthly punch (in a positive sense), coupled with a smoky sweetness. Endless, fruity finish. Absolute Hampden Champions League! 🔥🇯🇲

Nutty, creamy, woody, with only light fruit notes. The long aging is noticeable and the Hampden character clearly present. In the finish, nice notes of forest and juniper appear, which is quite exciting. Good in parts, but somewhat watery. Taste-wise, it neither blows me away on the nose nor in the mouth. Especially compared to the two other 93 releases tasted today.

The Whisky Jury has selected a high-flying Hampden. The nose is a tropical surge: pineapple, banana, mango, papaya and lime grace the nostrils, before spicy, vanilla notes play spoilsport. Buttery notes, marzipan, light oak and intense esters are rounded out by time. A complex, elegant, masterful and experienced Hampden. The palate is a fruity explosion: pineapple, banana, mango, maracuja, papaya, lime and grapefruit put on a striking show. Esters are present but delicate, with a fermented but tasty yoghurt flavour. Spices (vanilla, pepper, nutmeg) and pastry, candied and gourmet notes are present, offering a balanced, homogeneous and sensational Hampden on the palate. The alcohol is superbly integrated. The finish is long, dry and infinitely elegant. Yogurt and pastry mingle with ripe tropical fruit, esters, spice and wood for a delicate, flavorful whole. No note is higher than the other, the balance is perfect. A delightful Hampden that makes its bottler proud.

16.09.2022 Going through samples at home. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Medium intense, fresh, light wood, fruity, overripe, light citrus, light varnish, balanced, ester. Palate Medium intense, oily, light wood, fruity, overripe, banana, ester, light varnish, light licorice, faint coconut, light olive, faint salt. Finish Very long and warm, balanced, light wood, fruity, light mango, oily, spice, medium dry, light olive.

Very tasty old, continental Hampden 👌 really intense and with a fine aroma. Only the acidity could be a little less to my taste - but that's complaining on a high level. I prefer tropical, but this one is delicious 👌👌

8.6:On the nose, strong esters, varnish with vinegar and tropical fruits like pineapple, banana, very intense, with slightly roasted oak notes like fruitcake, marzipan and vanilla, are the first thing we notice. On aeration, spices like anise, clove arise, vegetal molasses with an olive, some lime and red fruits. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is rather too intense, funky, but creamy, slightly imbalanced with strong esters, smoky wood and confectionery, overripe, fermented, a bit rotten fruits, yoghurt like, with banana, pineapple, red fruits, later mango and lime, grapefruit.The molasses is vegetal with olive, the wood is spicy with clove, nutmeg and vanilla. 8,5:The finish is balanced, dry and tannic, with the palate notes lingering on, less intense and some cardboard note might arise..

The aroma is nothing short of an attack on the senses, complex and near-overwhelming. The open glass releases wave after wave of frankincense, varnish and spice. Once the nose gets accustomed to the scent of what I imagine the thick mist inside of a palm reader’s hut smells like, you discover a fickle balance of sour pineapple juice, red berries, lime and a splash of vinegar on one side; and sourdough, discarded vanillapod and applecake on the other side. Well balanced, a little challenging, but definitely enticing to the senses. In the mouth the years on oak have noticeably worked their magic, and have further concentrated all flavours, leaving room for more discoveries, such as the explosion of red fruit bubblegum immediately after sipping. The fruits are exquisitely balanced with oak, warm spice, fennel root and ‘peperkoek’. The finish is long and smooth with hot cloves, pineapple and grapefruit juice, unwinding in ever-lasting yoghurt notes.

In a spontaneous comparison today, there were a few candidates from 1993 in the pot. In advance, there was no real loser, all at a very high level. In the end, it's just personal nuances that could differ on another day. My personal ranking would be 1. RX12618 2. RX12648 3. RX11797 4. RX11400

Nose: lots of tropical fruits, a good amount of esters, some vanilla and a juniper note, very harmonious and harmonious. On the palate: initially oily, fruity and ester power ... it quickly becomes dry in the mouth and develops a typical bitterness. I like it quite well. Alcohol well integrated.

Very interesting Hampden, which doesn't really suit my personal taste. You can still recognize the high quality of the rum. For me, however, the vinegar note stands out too much. Personally, the sample is enough for me.

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that produces rum as well as alcohol for perfume. In all the rums from this distillery you will taste wild esters, after which your whole organism will soak up the smell of golden tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. Great drop! The nose brings along red fruits, lime, sour cherry, frankincense, vinegar, clove, anise and sourdough bread. The taste is also full of red fruits And spices accompanied by grapefruit, milk chocolate and gingerbread. The finish continues with the grapefruit and is quite rotten.

💣 TWJ Hampden 1993 C<>H – 59.1% I recently got this one... so of course, seeing the bottle at the booth, I couldn’t resist the urge to taste it with Jef to see what awaited me! Only 115 bottles of this 28-year-old Hampden monster. 1993... a legendary vintage at Hampden, with some bottlings that have become iconic. And here, we’re on the C<>H mark: in other words, you’re definitely not looking for shy finesse. Nose: explosive, fruity, complex, but with perfectly controlled power. That huge glue/solvent note filling the glass... pure bliss! Palate: a slightly astringent attack before diving into a world of caramelized pineapple and olive. A real cake of ultra-ripe tropical fruits. Finish: endless, warm, on pineapple, with a slight bitterness that balances everything out. A true Jamaican killer. And here, of course, a little extra satisfaction: a bottle is already waiting for me in the cellar...
