Foursquare Private Cask Selection Elysium
Roasted coconut, raisin, milk chocolate and a varnish edge — this is a sherry-cask Foursquare with the dry side turned up. Several tasters call it "unmistakably Bajan," rich on the nose but with wood and sherry pulling it firmly toward dry. It needs air; a few find the 60% a bit hot, but most agree it rewards patience in the glass.
- Roasted coconut, chocolate
- Rich sherry nose
- Long finish

How does Foursquare Private Cask Selection Elysium taste?
Aggregated from 54 community reviews.
Dry sherry-cask Foursquare, coconut and chocolate Most rate it a very good Foursquare — coconut, chocolate and dried fruit over a dry sherry backbone. The catch: the wood-and-sherry dryness and a quick-fading palate keep it just short of the top releases.

I wonder how they got their hands on this sample, but not important because it's a great rum. Fruity with roasted wood and spice and a light topping of chocolate. Price to quality at release was really good.

Delicious quaffable sherry foursquare
Review by zabo
The longer it is open and the more samples I give it, the better it tastes to me, which is why I have adjusted it upwards. For its shorter storage time than some other ECS, it still delivers a solid performance. Price to appearance relatively fair, if it wasn't for the duty and tax.

A sherry-aged Foursquare that is a little short on roundness. The nose is very nice, but in the mouth it is too dark, tart and dry and lacks fruit and caramel. Therefore, for me, a little below average compared to other ECS Foursquares.

Solid Foursquare with a pleasant sherry dryness on the palate. But not a smash hit. Tasted at Zabo's Garden Paradise

Nose is classic FS with a bit additional red fruits and strawberry bubblegum. Very rich. Nice! On the palate it is very nice as you would expect. However, the combination of wood and sherry notes take this one a bit to much towards the dry side of things to make it to the top notch of FS bottlings.

Amazingly good Foursquare! Must be compared with others soon...

although already over 1 year on sale, there is the Elysium from the PCS series at TWE (exclusive) still for just under 87 GBP. Compared with some other ECS bottlings seems to me that is still a fair price ... because the nose and palate is really not bad. From the balance and 'elegance' perhaps not quite on the level of the recently tasted (and also stored much longer) Raconteur, but with the ECS representatives such as the Redoutable, Indelible, Shibboleth he can certainly keep up.

The Whisky Exchange excluse rum from Foursquare. Some airing does it well before consuming. Very well integrated ABV% and I found some spice and dried fruits. The notes I got was spicy and some fruit profile of the ex-sherry cask

The nose is relatively flat and unspectacular at first and needs some time in the glass for the aromas to develop. Then the typical FS notes of coconut (roasted), caramel, dried fruit and wood. A classic Fourquare for me on the palate, nothing more and nothing less.

Very good foursquare. Beautiful nose, very tasty, power of a tropical aged rum, alcohol slightly astringent. Super PLV!
Review by Henry Davies
Nose is pleasant, dry fruits and varnish, with some honeycomb and wood. The mouth is a bit of an explosion and more in your face than many of the ECS releases. It brings sweet and sour cherry, some apple and cinnamon with wood and tar, layered on top of nougat and caramel. The finish is dry and maybe just a touch too dry to be excellent but one of the longest finishes I have had. Sherry expression, different to some of my favourites but an enjoyable and complex rum - after dinner type drinker for me

Over a little ice this is delicious. Unmistakably Bajan.

Nose: Butterscotch, leather, varnish, hint of pineapple, raspberry Mouth: Flavour finishes quite fast so it takes a while to figure out what's happening for me. I eventually find cinnamon, black pepper, raisins, brown sugar, nutty, orange zest Finish: A burst of heat that quickly levels out and ends in a medium length finish It really takes a few sips to understand the flavours going on in this glass. While this rum does have some complex notes, they fade quite quickly. It's a bit underwhelming for a premium rum. Nonetheless, while a little lacklustre for a Foursquare release, it is still an enjoyable dram, just not as exciting as it probably should be.

... Foursquare je destilerka z Barbadosu produkujici uzasne rumy ke kazdodennimu popijeni. Je to rum, ktery oceni zejmena rumari, kteri maji plne zuby cukru a hledaji jemny, nasladly rum plny kokosu, vanilky, cokolady a karamelu. Proste prijemne a nijak agresivni chute.

Struggling with this rum. 62% seems too hot but watering it down seems to lose a lot. Will update later. When I can handle the heat I love it.
Review by Wagnerlicious
A classic rum from Barabados with classic citrus and coconut notes. This bottling impresses with a strong sherry note. It also has hints of vanilla and honey. Slightly pungent alcohol. Solid rum.

"This is a really excellent and complex rum. However, with so many releases recently from Foursquare I am looking towards their next steps.
