The surprise here is how much the PX cask muscles in behind all that New Yarmouth ester. Nail polish, glue and solvent hit first, then ripe banana, pineapple and sour cherry, with a sherry-driven sweetness and roasted wood underneath. At 58.3% the alcohol sits remarkably well for a 2-year-old. Most people love it; a few wish the PX had stayed out of the way.

A New Yarmouth boosted with hormones and esters. Nail polish, glue, alcohol (wine) come strongly, hiding very ripe fruits (pineapple, banana, cherry), spices (chili, pepper), and pastry notes (caramel) that come in second. A rich and opulent SBS that gains power over time. The attack on the palate is intense, funky and ample, with beautiful phenolic notes (esters, glue, solvents, nail polish). The fruits are ripe and very present, especially exotic fruits and cherry. Despite this heaviness, a little sweetness appears on caramel, marzipan, pastry, spices (chili, vanilla) and wine. The alcohol is very well integrated into this rich and generous profile. The finish is long, dried out by alcoholic, phenolic and tannic notes. The spices, wood and roasted notes are more pronounced. The fruits are ripe, darker and red (cherry). The winey side also stands out at the very end of the palate. A very nice bottling, young and experimental, juicy and opulent as desired.

C: D Gold N: Long Pond National Rums of Jamaica anyone? I get a similar feeling! I’ve no idea the ester level on this New Yarmouth but my guessing is very much like the Cambridge-ester-level. I might be wrong, but the esters are there. Words like thickness and heaviness come to mind. Think of overripe peaches/apricots cooked to intensify the flavours, into that add a package of grind aspirin. I know, heavy ester stuff. At times you only get that sweet fruits aroma and it´s wonderful. M: Less intense. The apricots and peaches are there, as well as that medicinal aspirin note, but it is rather civilized compared to the nose. I like that! It makes the rum fresher and fruitier. Do I make any sense? F: It ends elegantly thinking how we started. Lite by lite it fades away. B: Not for me.

This one is really good and the ABV has been integrated really well. Once rested you barely get the 58.3%. Fresh and fruity with light cinnamon and lovely wood. Kind of sweet on the palate.

Wonderful nose with hints of cola and mint. In the mouth you can tell it's a bit younger, but very tasty and fruity with some tea, and of course ester. The finish is also great, there comes through some menthol, accompanied by a fruity note.For me one of the highlights of this year!

Very cool release. Finally young NYE again and in addition with the highest Estermark WK. The sherry finish I would not have needed and something young he is still. Couple more years and without finish and we get again brutal stuff.

Ok, on the nose it's super intense Jamaica, tropical fruits, as always banana and pineapple, but esters can also be well detected here. And for a Long Pond, we must not forget the nail polish :-) Thanks Jamaica.

On the nose: Esters, glue and solvents. Banana, some red fruits like sour cherries and little bit of spices in the background. The abv feel integrated well. Taste: Esters, solvents, light glue. Red fruits like sour cherries. Light cinnamon. Bananas ans pineapples. The abv is integrated very well. Finish: Esters, glue and sour cherries. Light cinnamon. Medium finish. I liked the sour cherry notes on this one and the abv integration is very good unlike so many sherry cask matured rums.

I don't really think it's as fruity in the nose as a Jamaican rum tends to be. I sense fresher scents like lime and light wood. The taste is really funky, and on the sweeter side. Sour cherries.

Nice high ester rum where you can hardly tell if ester, nail polish, glue, or solvent dominates. In any case, the fruit notes have to take a back seat, along with the young wood. On the palate and finish, you taste cinnamon, which is interesting but not my thing. Alcohol is super well integrated for its young age!

A rum highly concentrated in fruity, pastry-like esters. Rather wise on spices and wood. The finish is not very pronounced. The spectrum of aromas is reduced. All in all, a pleasant juice, but below expectations.

A Jam that stands out, probably the PX cask. It's extremely fruity, tropical (Mango / Pineapple / Banana), orchard fruits (Apricot / Red fruits) highlighted by a touch of young wood (Cardboard) as well as some mild spices (Vanilla / Cinnamon / Licorice). I really like the lovely indulgence (Caramel / Honeyed / Crème brûlée) that wonderfully contrasts with the smoky touch brought by the long fermentation (Copper / Rubber / Melted plastic / Smoke / Glue). A nice freshness (Olive / Menthol) perfectly integrated lightens this rum. It's very balanced, a jam driven by indulgence with just the right amount of ester and power to keep it interesting.

Light golden color. Aroma of thinner, paint cleaner, banana, I'm surprised that sherry doesn't play a role in the aroma. Taste is dry, wild, very fresh. Lots of tropical fruit, light cane juice, again banana, papaya, and maybe a bit of avocado. Finish is long and spicy. I really enjoy it. Considering how young this rum is, it's a lot of fun.
