A visit to the Takamaka distillery is worth it! During the pandemic, besides their high-quality pot still rum made from fresh sugarcane juice from the Seychelles in very small quantities, the distillery built a second pillar with a triple column still that works with molasses from abroad (Mauritius). This allows continuous large-scale production, catering to the cocktail and beginner segment.\n\nZepis Kreol, however, comes from the mid-segment, as it also contains pot still portions and a somewhat more elaborate aging than the lower segment. This rum should actually be considered a spiced rum, as it is infused with local spices. Unfortunately, besides the Extra Noir, there were no other rums from this segment available for tasting.

It is a spiced and not a rum. But I think it's a very successful spiced. A bit like a falernum or pimenta. There are clear peppery tones. With nutty accents. I can think of a few nice cocktails that you could make with it

A month earlier, this spiced rum would probably have been a better fit. Cinnamon, pepper and other spices determine the texture from start to finish - really Christmassy! Unfortunately not my cup of tea, it also seems a little artificial

As the review suggests, the rum is "drinkable". But nothing more. From smell to finish there is a sugar taste. Feels very thin and flat. Maybe a good entry to move away from Don Papa. It was a free sample from Whic. Luckily only 3cl.
