Most tasters are genuinely surprised this is only two years old — the virgin oak (and a dark, almost Demerara-like color) does a lot of heavy lifting. Expect butterscotch, salted-caramel, coffee, cocoa and pecan, with the classic Port Mourant licorice and solvent underneath. The nose wins nearly everyone over; a few find the 60.8% palate sharp and the wood a touch dominant. Needs air.

A Demerara nose with something unusual. Cedarwood, licorice, banana, salted caramel, and a little leather note. The attack on the palate is lively and does not reflect the subtlety and complexity of the nose. Cedarwood dominates and leaves little room for other aromas. Everything comes back in the finish, which has a nice length, even though the wood is still dominant. An incredibly high-quality rum for its youth, especially the nose which I really like.

Colour of the SBS is significantly lighter vs. The Nectar. On the nose both clearly deliver (unaged) PM notes. However the cask influence on The Nectar is much more noticeable as the colour suggested. Clear point for The Nectar. On the palate, this SBS is significantly sweeter and more „virgin oak forward“ so to say. Alcohol is better integrated vs. The Nectar. While there are also (oaky) sweet notes and vanilla, The Nectar delivers a much darker profile which is more noticeable PM. Overall a hint to sharp for my liking.

A young Port Mourant that has resources. The color is already very rich for only 2 years of aging, and the nose is particularly impressive: a slight medicinal note on varnish opens the show, followed by fresh and herbal notes, then the spectacle begins with spices (cinnamon, cloves, licorice, vanilla) and gourmand notes like old Demeraras (coffee, burnt sugar, buttery caramel, cocoa, banana, raisins). The olfactory profile is extremely well constructed and very complex for this age, it's remarkable. The attack on the palate is quite lively. Apart from some brief herbal notes, it's closer to the Demerara style than Port Mourant: you find heavy notes of caramel, toffee, molasses, raisins, leather, pecan, chocolate, and coffee, but it's mainly the spices that steal the show: cinnamon, vanilla, clove, licorice, and chili offer a beautiful exuberant rum in the mouth. Woody and roasted notes accompany the profile well. The alcohol is well integrated despite the roughly 60%. The finish is between medium and long. It is warm, sweet on toffee and caramel, slightly bitter and woody, but above all very spicy: you find salty notes, cardamom, and winter spices as well. Chocolate, coffee, leather, and raisins amplify the gourmand sensation. A truly spectacular Port Mourant that offers a lot of aromas and flavors for its age. The quality/price ratio definitely makes it worth the detour.

A very good PM! Stored only two years, you can hardly believe it... for this I feel him already quite complex! These dark aromas and the contrasting sweetness are really exciting and intense. A successful bottling

Not too bad a release. ABV could have been integrated a lot better but the balance is still kind of there after resting for a good while. Nice sweet caramel in the profile and I like the roasted wood on the profile. The empty glass has a really nice touch to it after a while.

I rarely talk about the color of rums, but this one is quite surprising. The Port Mourant are usually straw colors but here we are on a beautiful dark gold. Surprising for a 2 year old! The official version is the use of a virgin oak barrel that has undergone a strong toasting (interior and voluntary carbonization of the barrel). Others will say the addition of a nice spoonful of molasses as Diamond is used to ... On the nose, we are far from the beautiful glue that may displease some but that I love at Port Mourant! Here: vanilla, salted butter caramel ... it is sweet and greedy! Blind, I defy anyone to find a PM! In the mouth, we come back to the basics of a PM: licorice, solvents, woody, red fruits, citrus, almond, vanilla

Fruitiness on the nose consists primarily of green grapes and dark raisins, clearly imposed by an unaged PM profile shining through. Despite its young age, the virgin oak is deceptive and has cheekily added a layer of soft caramel and toasted notes, most noticeably banana flambée, oak and vanilla. A subtle mixture of smoke, aniseed, earthiness and fennel adds slight complexity. The taste is quite linear. It’s thick, sweet and toasted. Little fruitiness remains as barrel notes completely take over. Some fresh apple is introduced, but it remains too flat and unchallenging. Ends in strong, bitter espresso accompanied by butterscotch sweets. Very after-dinner like and I can image this is an excellent digestif. Unfortunately the alcohol is not integrated very well. This needs lots of aeration to take the sharpness off and be truly enjoyable.

"It goes fast, which is a shame because the aromas are crazy on the nose! A bit disappointing on the palate, but nicely rich, butter, wood, spices that please. In summary, my tasting notes: Nose: Butter caramel, Butter. Palate: Woody, Vanilla, Pecan nut. Finish rather oriented towards: Butter caramel, Woody."

Very pleasant nose, smooth, sweet, the little exciting side of pastry that smells like butter, but on the palate you don't find these markers at all, you are rather on the markers of port mourant but less pronounced.

👃 Powerful nose typical of a Demerara dark rum Skeldon or Enmore with a higher age statement and a high alcohol content. It's very surprising knowing it only has 2 years of aging. The use of new barrels has something to do with it. Notes of ☕️, 🍫, slightly prunes as well. 👄 Stunning: blindfolded one would swear this juice has many more years of aging. The 🍫 and ☕️ are still present, as well as caramel like Werther's Original candy. Long finish considering its age. A must-have especially if you manage to find it at release price. (69 euros)

Very catchy nose: salted caramel butter with a hint of chocolate. Makes you want it. The nose is not confirmed by a palate that is too lively. The alcohol still leaves too little room for the rest for me. Short and pleasant finish, on caramel and a slightly saltier touch. It's good but deserves to age more.
